2017 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 Complaints

I have replaced my transmission about 8 months ago…$5200 and 15k miles later the transmission shudder is back. This is a safety issue because of transmission failure in traffic. There needs to be accountability from GM to fix this ongoing problem.

18V586. GM's own number for this recall is 18289. These are for the 2015 Silverado’s . The 2017 Silverado 1500 are doing the same thing as the recall from above describes . My wife had almost accidents cause of this . I almost had an accident today as well getting off the freeway . I know a lot of people are having these problems as well . Gm needs to own up to this mistake they did with these trucks . They should be held responsible for this defect on this truck .

8/10/2023 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 had a collision with a deer on driver side front bumper and grille near Piedmont KS in the country. Airbags did NOT deploy although the airbag light DID come on at time of incident. On-Start contacted husband, driver, to make sure he was ok since it was a front end collision. Truck is currently at Gerber Auto Collision 10760 W Kellogg Wichita KS being repaired. Truck was due to be returned to us by 8/21/2023. As of this morning, the date was updated to be 8/21 to 8/25. I called them on it and they said they were having "someone" check the airbags since the light was on but it did not deploy.

The problem started about 3 days ago I was driving to work and I was coming to a stop at a red light then it said “trailer brake system” and then it completely shut my truck off and my brakes were really hard and my steering wheel was stiff then another day it did the same thing and after it was telling me all my blinker were about to go out.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle started shaking and the contact heard an abnormally loud sound before the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to push the vehicle to the side of the roadway, where the failure persisted. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle with transmission failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but was unable to assist. The failure mileage was 62,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH on the highway, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled for several seconds. Additionally, the wheels locked up; however, the vehicle independently restarted, and the contact was able to safely drive the vehicle to work where the vehicle remained. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the failure had been a recurring failure for the past two years. The contact stated that previously the vehicle was taken to the dealer due to the failure but not diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,300. The VIN was unavailable.

My truck shuts off on its on ,steering wheel locks and truck shuts off . Very scary while on the road .

The system that failed is my transmission and this puts me in risk on getting stranded one day and yes it’s been confirmed by a dealer. Yes there was a message on the dashboard and other symptoms prior to the failure and they appear around mid July of 2023.

The vehicle was restarted on the third attempt. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the oil pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 147,466.

The AFM system to the vehicle started to fail while I was on the road with my family. Vehicle went into limp mode as the vehicle started. Displayed on the dashboard engine loss of power with check engine light on. Took to the dealer to repair and got quoted a spark plug change when the issue is clearly something else.
