I own a 2017 Silverado 1500 ecoTech V6, 6L80 transmission, 91500 - over the weekend, I started having an issue shifting from 3rd to 4th. I noticed the transmission was over 190 degrees, as high as 230 degrees, then cooling back to 194. When attempting to shift from 3rd the 4th, it will start, then return to 3rd. It will do so 4 or 5 times until eventually skipping 4th and going to 5th. This happens when the transmission fluid is cold, 80s or when fluid gets to 190+. I called the local Chevy deal, who told me there weren't any open recalls for my VIN and that the diagnostics would be $190 which may or may not be a software update. They would not know until after the disanostics.

The AFM system is a faulty system that starved my lifters of oil and they ended up collapsing causing a flat spot on my cam. The engine code would come up as a misfire but the code is caused by the flat spot created on the cam by the lifter it's a faulty system that cost me $7,000. My 8spd transmission also has a hard shift from 1st to 2nd pushing the vehicle forward and jerking it when it shifts. The dealer and GM said this was natural with this type of transmissions which we now know is a lie.

The contact's son owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While the contact's son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the windows started to get foggy with the defroster activated. After remotely starting my truck, I was met with a strange noise that was both noticeable and unprecedented. The certified Chevy dealership provided three different estimates for tearing down the engine to verify the faulty lifter. Unfortunately, the dealer and warranty provider are unwilling to accept that these issues are inherent to the AFM system. Given the vehicle's relatively low mileage of 89,000 miles, such repairs seem premature.

The six speed transmission 6L80 failed with less then 60k miles and before it's first service due at 72k miles, I have already had the transmission repaired so the original transmission components are not available for inspection. My transmission failed when I was driving across the Coronado bridge in San Diego CA. This bridge has no shoulders to safely pull over. I had my truck towed to Cummings Chevrolet in National City CA. and they confirmed the transmission needed replacing. Yes the check engine light did come on but it was already too late to save the transmission.
