2017 CHEVROLET TAHOE Complaints

Transmission noticeably slipping. When Tahoe is placed in reverse, car begins rolling forward, and sputters backwards. Elongated shifting between gears 2-3 causing RPMs to spike significantly.

First the brakes went out, then the AC, now the transmission. It has only 60,000 miles.

The transmission malfunctioned at 100K miles. I was traveling on a major interstate and the car could not power forward. The dealership has confirmed that the transmission needs replacing. I did not receive a warning lamp or messages related to the issue.

The transmission went out at 93,000 miles and we took it in to be repaired under warranty. We were told a new transmission would be installed after being shipped from Detroit MI. When we picked up the vehice we discovered it was not a new transmission but a remanufactured transmission. We drove it home 25 miles home and it did not shift properly. We immediately called the dealership back to report it and was asked to bring it back. The dealership check it and said there was nothing wrong with it we just needed to drive it so it could learn our driving habits. This transmission lasted 104 days. We were out of town and my husband drove it to town to get breakfast and the transmission was slipping so bad he almost didn't get back with it. We had to have it towed to the nearest dealer 30 miles away and rent a car to get home. The second remanufactured transmission was installed by GM on 5/23/23 and we picked it up on 5/26/23. Upon driving it home this 2nd transmission was shifting hard. I contacted GM regarding it and was told to take it to be checked out. Once again we were told we just needed to drive it so it cold learn our driving habits. It is unsafe to drive as my husband drove it 4 miles to the grocery store and still at the traffic light he is pressing the gas to go and the vehicle would not move/go forward. He quickly had to put his flasher on and put the vehicle in park to keep from being hit from behind. He was finally able to get the vehicle to move and got home. The vehicle shifts so hard that it feels like you have been hit from behind by another car. GM keeps telling me there is nothing wrong with the vehicle but it is not safe to drive when you dont know if the transmission is gonna go out while you are going 70 mph down the interstate or get rearended becasue yourr vehicle doesn't move when the light turns green.

When going a low speed 15mph when hitting the brake car would not completely stop. When driving rpm will go high and would not go over 50mph

The contact sustained an injury to the right knee, back, neck, and right arm that required medical attention. A police report was filed, and the contact was informed that the air bag was partially deployed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and then towed to the insurance company's tow lot. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle had not yet been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light flashed off and on, with a knocking and ticking noise coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed an engine misfire. The contact was informed that the camshaft and lifters needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 80-85 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently started to decelerate with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact coasted to the side of the roadway and waited before restarting the vehicle and continued driving. The failure reoccurred several times. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. THE BRAKES ARE REALLY HARD WHEN PRESSING TAKES ALOT OF FORCE AND ALSO TAKES VERY LONG TO STOP NOW MY TRUCK PEDAL IS SOFT AND MY TRUCK IS STUTTERING FROM LOSS OF VACCUUM AND ALSO MADE ME FLY DOWN MY DRIVEWAY WITH NO WAY TO STOP

While driving down the highway at 65 MPH in a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe, towing a boat, the stabilitrak service light/warning message illuminated, the check engine light illuminated, the vehicle began to shake, lose power, unable to accelerate, and slowed down to 55 MPH automatically. While trying to pull off the side of the highway, the vehicle continued to slow down to less than 40 MPH with no ability to accelerate. The transmission fluid temperature went all the way up to 282 degrees. We pulled off the side of the highway, let the car cool down for about 15 minutes, restarted the vehicle and attempted to accelerate slightly but the vehicle made a high pitched whining noise and would not move. The vehicle was towed to a Chevrolet dealer and was diagnosed with a failed transmission. This occurred at approximately 78,000 miles.
