Below is the description of what has happened...... Product Safety Recall - Driver Front Airbag Inflator May Rupture One of the front airbag inflators in my vehicle was produced by Takata. Takata has advised the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that without a chemical drying agent, prolonged exposure to heat and humidity can degrade the chemical propellant used in this airbag inflator. In time, if the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflator may rupture when the airbag deploys during a crash event. If this happens, sharp metal fragments could pass through the airbag, striking you or your loved ones, causing serious or fatal injuries. Answers to your general guideline questions (see below) 1. It is available for inspection at any time. 2. The safety issue putting my husband, daughter, son-in-law, twin granddaughters, friends and myself at risk are the defective airbags with serious to fatal injuries. 3. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by NHTSA, Takata, GM and a Chevrolet dealer. 4. No individual from NHTSA, Takata, GM or a Chevrolet dealer have asked to investigate my vehicle, but they all have advised it is on recall. I've also been advised the parts are not available for the recall repair and no one has an answer to when that will be. 5. My best assessment of the situation is every time I drive my vehicle I am putting myself, my beloved family and friends at risk of serious to fatal injuries and the cause of this is my recalled vehicle has not been repaired due to the fact no parts to repair it are available now or I'm guessing in the near future. GM describes it as an urgent safety recall and yet there has been no urgency in resolving the issues for serious and fatal injuries.
