I purchased the above-listed 2016 Chevrolet Volt through Carvana, relying on the contractual promise that the BECM was covered under Special Coverage N232432680 for up to 15yrs or 150k miles. The vehicle has suffered persistent, severe mechanical and electrical issues resulting in a prolonged loss of use: 1. Initial Breakdown and Delivery: The vehicle originally had a Reduced Propulsion Power Alert on Monday [XXX] around 8pm and nearly caused me to be rear ended on a major road due to accelration issues. It then officially broke down on Tuesday, [XXX]. It was then delivered to Vic Koenig Chevrolet (1040 E Main St, Carbondale, IL 62901) via Tow By Freedom Towing the following Friday, May 29, 2026. 2. Delayed Work Start & Shop Stay: Vic Koenig Chevrolet was able to officially begin diagnostic and repair work on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. The facility held the vehicle for several weeks to address the failures. 3. Brief Release and Immediate Re-Breakdown: I picked up the vehicle upon its supposed completion on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Then less than 24 hours later, on Wednesday, [XXX], the vehicle suffered a recurring breakdown and had to be returned to the dealership immediately. 4. Wrongful Coverage Denials: On Thursday June 19, 2026, Silver Rock claims representatives issued explicit coverage denials to me via text message. That same day, service representatives from Vic Koenig Chevrolet phoned Silver Rock multiple times to provide diagnostic evidence, But SilverRock repeatedly issued oral denials over the phone. They stated the PCM and BECM were not included in the contract, screenshots of the vontract state the opposite. SilverRock sent this refusal via email to me on June 19. I also contacted GM by phone on Wednesday 5/27/26 and so did the dealership and they refused to cover my vehicle under the Special Warranty for the known issue. I tried to request a cost reduction and they denied it again on 6/22/26. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While I was visiting my mother in Kentucky my 6.2 truck engine failed. It all happened really quick and no warning signs prior. Truck passed recall in April 26. I just left visiting my mother at nursing home. I was on Mountain Parkway when it all of a sudden started making a noise. It sounded like it was coming through firewall. All of sudden check engine light came on and I pulled over right before off ramp. I turned truck off for couple of minutes and started it back up. No light but as soon as I pulled back onto parkway noise started again. I was next to off ramp so I pulled into Marathon gas station and as I was pulling in it died and wouldn’t start back. Truck was taken to dealership on 5/24. They said they can’t give me a courtesy vehicle due to me living out of state and I would have to get a rental on my own but GM would cover up to $44 per day. I contacted GM twice and said I needed to speak to dealer about getting a car. I explained what dealer told me but they said it was out of their control. Still paying for rental out of pocket. Dealer called and verified that engine needs replaced and new engine is back ordered with no ETA. I’m still paying truck payment on a truck I don’t have and no help from GM on giving a car to drive. Need help with escalating new engine replacement and rental that GM is covering.

Received "reduced propulsion" message, with no engine detected. Car slowed to a near stop while driving on the Interstate highway. Very dangerous to have that suddenly happen. Message popped up randomly with no prior warning.

In May 2026, my vehicle began exhibiting serious and dangerous problems. It would shake violently after starting and occasionally stop on its own while driving. On [XXX], my wife and I got into the vehicle and started driving from our home in West Virginia. While driving uphill at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly began shaking severely and then came to a complete stop. After a few moments, it restarted itself and accelerated to about 30–40 mph while continuing to shake violently. This happened several times during the trip. Fuel consumption also became extremely abnormal, dropping to approximately 6 miles per gallon. Because Team One Chevrolet in Oakland, Maryland, is the nearest dealer, we drove there for service. After several hours, the dealer returned the vehicle and informed us that they had replaced a sensor. However, after leaving the dealership, the Check Engine light came on again after only three engine starts. I immediately returned to the dealership, where the warning light was cleared. The following day, the Check Engine light returned. When I contacted the dealership, I was told to continue driving the vehicle with the warning light on for one to two weeks. After more than a week, I returned to the dealership, and the light was reset again. A few days later, the same problem reappeared. At that point, I was informed that, according to dealership procedures, replacement parts could not be ordered until the issue had been reported three times. After the third visit, the parts were finally ordered, and I was required to wait several more weeks for another service appointment. I also reported the issue directly to Chevrolet. Despite multiple visits, repeated failures, and a significant amount of time spent attempting repairs, my vehicle remains unrepaired. My factory warranty is approaching expiration, and no one has provided a clear answer regarding what will happen if the upcoming repair attempt fails to resolve the problem. Component or system that failed/malfunctioned: The Electric Power Steering (EPS) Gear / Steering Rack Assembly. The component has not yet been removed from the vehicle and is available for physical inspection upon request. How safety is put at risk: When navigating low-speed turns or accelerating from a stop where the steering wheel is rotated to approximately 45 degrees, the steering gear mechanically binds and catches. The wheel completely fails to self-center or return to a straight position on its own. The driver must apply sudden, manual physical force to yank the wheel back to center. This creates an immediate loss-of-control and lane-departure hazard during low-speed maneuvers. Because this is a progressive mechanical wear issue, there is a severe risk of a total steering lockup at higher highway speeds. Confirmation by dealer/independent center & manufacturer inspection: The vehicle has not yet been inspected by a dealer, independent service center, or the manufacturer due to the high out-of-pocket cost of the repair. The owner is operating the vehicle with extreme caution while awaiting a formal safety recall regarding this documented steering gear defect. Warning lamps, messages, or prior symptoms: No electronic dashboard warning lights or error messages have illuminated. The primary prior symptom was a subtle, rotational scraping/friction noise heard coming from the front driver-side wheel well when passing roadside walls or barriers, indicating ongoing mechanical friction within the steering assembly. The 45-degree steering binding first appeared several months ago and has progressively worsened.

Over the last week, my truck power has been almost shutting down after the stabilitrac warning appears on the dash while I’m turning or going over uneven pavement. The whole system shut down once already when turning around in a driveway. I have a new battery. Spark plugs are good. ABS is good. There are no recalls I can find, but this must be electrical somehow. Help me pls before it causes an accident.

My telematics module for onstar is draining power from the car's battery which has been not allowing me to start after I turn it off without having to jumpstart it. Also when I do jump start it, the cruise control don't work and service messages pop up on my HUD. The dealership said it's undrivable due to safety concerns and the part is backordered for an unknown ETA.
