Pulled into a pharmacy, vehicle died and completely shut off while driving. 3400 miles, towed to dealership, March 5, 2026. Still no answer from dealership for why this happened and no loaner vehicle yet because they cannot confirm it's a warranty issue

The abs braking and stability control light came on and has stayed on and took to mechanic shop and was told to repair would be $4000 .that's more than what the car is worth!changed motor oil many times since I owned the car and it uses oil quite much.ihe oil gauge can say I have 70 percent oil and the dipstick reads no oil so I must put 2 -3 quarts of oil in car because I can hear lifters rattle due to lack of oil.the abs stability control keeps car steady especially in i snow or rain weather and can lose control of the 2012 Chevy equinox.if I was to drive vehicle on long trip the motor could freeze up while driving and shut down and cause dangerous situation in traffic.

On 1/31/2026, while returning from an AKC event with my XXX year old border collie, I was traveling on IXXX at approximately 70MPH in the left hand lane passing other traffic. As I started up a hill in a remote area, I began to hear a knocking sound coming from the engine compartment that sounded like a rod knocking and the truck began to struggle to continue up the hill. It then lost all power, a message stating to shift to neutral and restart flashed on infotainment screen, I shifted to neutral and pushed the start button, but everything went blank. I had to struggle to merge back into right lane and eventually over to the breakdown lane, approximately 5 miles from the nearest exit. I was forced to remain on the side of a busy interstate for approximately two hours during an unusually cold day for Florida that consisted of snow flurries while waiting for roadside assistance. Luckily, I was able to arrive at the dealership 5 minutes before closing and was able to get my truck checked in. The service writer knew exactly what the likely issue was when I described my ordeal, and it was partially confirmed when she pulled the Christmas tree of codes from the computer that my truck was throwing. It should be noted that the truck would not restart after the catastrophic failure that stopped the motor at 70MPH on the interstate and would not shift to neutral for the tow truck operator to load or unload onto flatbed. Subsequently, Techs determined that engine failed due to suspected internal damage to crankshaft and motor was replaced under warranty along with torque converter. The failed engine serial number was [XXX] but I was never notified or included in current recall 25V274, It did not show as active recall in GM App nor was it inspected during LOF visits at various GM Service departments. My truck was in GM service from 1/31 - 2/21 for the engine replacement, Mileage on 2024 Silverado 1500 High Country was 25,274 at failure. My dash has been displaying intermittently “Service electric trailer brakes”. I have recently purchased a 30’ travel trailer. After driving a couple hundred miles with trailer in tow. The code started appearing even with the trailer not connected. I have contacted GM and they have indicated no recall on electric brake controller.

The Variable Geometry Turbocharger Actuator failed on my 2019 2500HD Silverado. There was a significant decrease in power. This was most noticeable on uphill grades where speed would drop to between 35 and 40 mph on a 75mph speed limit highway. On several occasions, vehicles came close to hitting me because of my slow speed.

The illuminated dashboard, center control console, and headlights suddenly turned off while the vehicle was in motion during a dark night. The blackout lasted approximately 10 seconds and I was unable to see to keep the vehicle on the roadway. After running onto the unpaved shoulder, I was able to fully stop the vehicle without hitting anything. All of the lights came back on and the dashboard showed a message that said "Auto shutoff". Then everything returned to normal. This problem hasn't been reported to the dealer yet, but will be discussed during an upcoming service to correct one of the other problems that keep occurring with this vehicle.

The vehicle shifted itself into neutral and shut off while driving. It happened twice in three days. The first time I was pulling into the driveway so I was able to put it in park and restart the car safely. The second time I was in the middle of traffic in Tampa and it shifted into neutral and shut off in the middle of the road. Luckily no cars hit me but again I had to apply the break , restart the car and put it back in drive. This was very scary and I had my kids with me. Earlier in the day I had been driving on 75 and if it had happened then it could have been a bad wreck. It shows there are no current recalls on my vehicle. No warning lights or messages appeared. Vehicle was purchased less than 30 days ago. I will contact the dealership to verify there are no open recalls just in case but again when I checked I found none.
