I was driving on the interstate, when all my dash lights came on. When stationed, it would vibrate and have excessive smoke come from the exhaust when I would start driving again. After arriving to my destination there was an unusual burning/smokey smell when I got out of the vehicle. I got it scanned and it said it was a cylinder 2 misfire. I replaced the spark plug, coolant, gaskets. Still wasn’t fixed. Then I replaced the fuel injector. Still not working. The mechanic said the oil psi was 30. The vehicle was also burning thru gas and oil quicker than usual. Took it to the dealership and they said it needs a whole new engine and warranty is unsure if they will cover it or not.

I am writing to formally document a series of catastrophic mechanical failures regarding the aforementioned vehicle. Despite rigorous maintenance and significant financial investment, the car remains non-drivable, posing a severe safety risk. Chronology of Failures: October 2024: Four months post-purchase, the timing chain failed on I-94. Atwater Chevrolet replaced the component; however, this did not resolve the underlying engine instability. December 3, 2025: Following a dashboard warning light, a Northland Chevrolet dealer replaced the solenoids. At this time, the windshield wiper motor also required replacement. Late December 2025: Shortly after these repairs, the vehicle suffered a major failure of the rear main seal and engine block during sub-freezing temperatures. This caused a total loss of oil and left the driver stranded in hazardous conditions. Maintenance and Disclosure: We have invested over $4,000 in preventative maintenance, including oil changes every 2,800 miles to mitigate known oil consumption issues. At the time of sale, there was no disclosure regarding the inherent engine defects common to this model. Current Status: The vehicle is currently at a dealership and is inoperable. A $10,000 loan balance remains. Current diagnostics suggest a frost plug failure triggered the event. I have contacted GM regarding Bulletin 14882, which addresses identical issues in similar models, but was informed it does not currently attach to this VIN. Furthermore, the extended warranty provider has denied the claim following an inspection, despite the documented manufacturing issues known to affect these engines for several years.

Trucks driver side rear window which is a three-piece window with a sliding window in the middle has shattered apparently due to a defect or fault in the rear window fogger. I had my son in the back at one point and put the defogger on, and it started smoking and nearly caught on fire. No warning on either incidences and they did not occur at one time but about two days apart.

I’ve heard all the horror stories about faulty electrical issues. I’m chasing an issue now on my 2018 with ONLY 87,000 miles after spending a bunch of money on batteries hub assemblies random control modules to try to fix an issue of stabilitrak, traction control, abs, trailer brakes, power steering etc all going off every 3 seconds. Grounds have all been re done to bare metal nothing is fixing the issue. Steering wheel about flew out of my hands going 65mph when the power steering message along with all the others on the dtc while dinging annoying the shit out of me. I’ve bought nothing but gm trucks my whole adult life and I’ll never do it again. Thing is a piece of shit and you all should be doing something to fix it. I’ve seen people have the fix by replacing a tail light bulb speed sensors ecbm abs modules trailer brake modules harnesses the list is endless. Someone is going to die when they crash from some bullshit electrical problem that can’t be chased down because it’s always something different. The money we pay for these trash trucks is insane for the problems like this that you won’t recall. That’s it these trucks suck and I’ll never buy another one. Trash.

I am filing this complaint regarding a persistent and unresolved defect with my 2024 Chevrolet Traverse, VIN: [XXX] . The first occurrence of this issue was in June 2025. Since then, the vehicle has repeatedly experienced a “Check Engine” warning, engine misfires (cylinder misfire), loss of power while driving, and severe engine shaking. These symptoms make the vehicle unsafe to operate. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized Chevrolet dealership approximately 20 times for the same ongoing issue. Despite multiple repair attempts, the problem has never been permanently resolved. In total, the vehicle has spent about three months out of service at the dealership. As of January 14, 2026, after the vehicle has been at the dealership for over two weeks, I was informed that the dealer is unable to repair the vehicle. They have escalated the case to the manufacturer, General Motors, because they cannot identify a permanent solution. The current mileage of the vehicle is approximately 41,700 miles. This ongoing defect makes the vehicle unreliable and unsafe for normal use. The repeated failures to repair suggest a potential manufacturing or design defect rather than an isolated incident. I respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration review this matter and determine whether an investigation or further action is warranted. My Onstar module and Telematics is not working and Chevy/GM is trying to refuse to fix it and claim it's due to not having the Onstar internet plan. If that was the case it would never work, yet it works some days then other days it shows me in another city. My Google assistance will show not connected when Google maps doesn't work. I've only had this car since April 2025. This needs to become a recall. GM can't keep doing this to their customers.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally request reimbursement or goodwill assistance for the repair of the turbocharger on my Chevrolet Trax, which failed unexpectedly and caused my vehicle to stall in the middle of the freeway, creating a serious safety hazard. I had previously reported concerns related to the turbo, and after the failure occurred, I learned that General Motors issued a Special Coverage Adjustment for turbocharger malfunction on certain Chevrolet Trax vehicles. Unfortunately, I never received any notification or letter informing me of this coverage. Had I been made aware, I would have taken appropriate action prior to the failure. Because this vehicle was my only means of transportation, I had no choice but to immediately repair it at my own expense. I later contacted GM Customer Assistance to inquire about reimbursement and was informed that my request was denied solely due to the vehicle exceeding 120,000 miles, despite the fact that: This is a known defect The failure resulted in a dangerous loss of power while driving I was never notified of the special coverage I was also advised that the notification was sent by a government department, yet no department could be identified, and despite multiple requests, I have not received a call back from a manager. Given the seriousness of the safety risk, the lack of notice, and the documented nature of this defect, I am respectfully requesting that GM reconsider my case for reimbursement or goodwill assistance for the turbocharger repair. I have attached copies of my repair invoice, proof of payment, and vehicle documentation for your review. I would appreciate escalation of this matter to a Senior Advisor or District Manager for further consideration. Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] 2017, Chevy Trax [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My car started having issues with the hybrid system, with fault alerts related to the drive motor control module, hybrid powertrain control module, and battery energy control module in the transmission, and the vehicle is available for inspection if needed. The engine light had been on for about a week, and I was waiting for availability at work to take it to a mechanic. While driving around 70 mph on the highway, a “Propulsion Power Reduced” message suddenly came on and the car started limiting its speed. As I kept driving, the power continued to drop, making it unsafe to stay at highway speeds and putting both me and other drivers at risk since the car couldn’t keep up with traffic and could slow down unexpectedly. I took it to an independent mechanic who confirmed the issue and warned me it was dangerous to drive because the speed would keep decreasing as power dropped. So far, only an independent mechanic has inspected it. After doing some research, I found this is a very common problem with 2016–2018 Chevy Volts, with many people reporting similar situations where their cars lost power or started jerking at high speeds and they had to pull over.
