    - Guilford, IN

I am experiencing a commonly reported issue with the steering rack binding and failing to self-center after a turn. Turning the steering wheel left and right has become increasingly more stiff over time. Unreliable steering, especially during turns could potentially lead to an accident/collision.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the residence and jump-started. For the past 2 years ive been having issues of losing power steering. Lots of parts and modules have been replaced out of pocket. Still not fixed. When it goes out it can be out for days to weeks and is extremely hard to steer. Its gone out or come back in during a turn which is very problematic and unsafe. I always get the same dash message, "service power steering drive with care". The dealership is aware and has seen the malfunctioning steering. So far the rack and pinion gear box has been replaced at $2700, then it was a terminal resistor that was replaced for $2,100, and several other trips in costing more money just to get the steering fixed but technicians have been unsuccessful so far despite their best efforts.

  • 2023 CHEVROLET EXPRESS CUTAWAY VAN
    - Owings Mills, MD

While driving at highway speed, the factory-installed serpentine belt on my 2023 Chevrolet Express 3500 (6.6L V8, approximately 24,000 miles, purchased new, factory-maintained per schedule) failed suddenly and without warning. The belt on this engine drives the water pump and other critical accessories, so the failure caused immediate loss of engine cooling and rapid, severe overheating while the vehicle was in motion in traffic. It also lost power steering assist, making the vehicle significantly harder to control at highway speed. The Vehicle was Brough to a stop manually to the shoulder and it was towed from the scene. The overheating caused internal engine damage, including melted plastic components in the intake tract, and the engine requires complete replacement. An independent repair shop inspected the vehicle and attributed the damage to the belt failure and resulting overheat, not to operator misuse. The vehicle has complete maintenance records. I am reporting this because a sudden serpentine belt failure at 24,000 miles on a nearly new commercial vehicle is a safety hazard: it disables engine cooling and accessory functions without warning while the vehicle is at speed, and in this case destroyed the engine. The servicing Chevrolet dealership advised me that replacement engines for this powertrain are on national backorder with roughly 4,000 units on order and only about 20 available nationwide, which suggests this failure mode and engine damage may not be isolated. The vehicle has been out of service since the incident. The dealer is attmepting to pin blame on me instead of properly fixing & addressing the situation.

  • 2023 CHEVROLET EQUINOX
    - Miami, FL

I own a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox that is experiencing unexpected loss of power while driving, hard starting, warning lights, and fuel-system-related diagnostic trouble codes. There is an open GM recall/customer satisfaction program related to the fuel system. I contacted General Motors and was given Customer Assistance Case #1069141090. GM advised me that the applicable recall repair needs to be performed. I brought the vehicle to Bomnin Chevrolet West Kendall and explained that the vehicle was losing power unexpectedly while being driven. The dealership acknowledged that it could see the recall but told me that Bomnin reserved the right not to perform the recall repair and directed me to drive the vehicle to another dealership in Miami Lakes. I am concerned about being instructed to continue driving a vehicle that can unexpectedly lose power while in traffic. I am reporting this because I believe the condition presents a potential safety risk and the recall-related issue has not been resolved.

  • 2023 CHEVROLET TAHOE
    - Monroe, WA

My vehicle, 2023 Tahoe, previously had the GM Recall 25V-274 / N252494001 remedy performed (0W-40 oil swap) in October of 2025. Despite completing the manufacturer's official recall remedy, the engine suffered a sudden, dangerous loss of motive power at highway speeds when I was making an out of state move and traveling alone; it was terrifying. I had to have it towed to the nearest dealership and that is where it is now as I had to leave since I was in the middle of moving. I need a new engine. I have no idea how I will get my Tahoe to my new residence or when. The dealership was not open on Sundays so I had to find a place to stay after leaving my Tahoe full of my items and my bike. I was so afraid it would be broken into. I had an oil pressure warning right before the engine completely stalled. And, I was accelerating up an incline and it felt like my Tahoe couldn't get enough power to make the incline. My Tahoe only has 35,047 miles, and threw the Diagnostic Trouble Code P0016 through my ONSTAR app as well as with the tech at the dealership. And, I am having a lot of trouble with GM corporate with rental cars. I had to pay out of pocket in order to get back on the road with my belongings as I start a new job this week at my new home. I had to leave some belongings and my bike with my Tahoe at the dealership.

  • 2020 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500
    - Decatur, GA

The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was running rough and the vehicle lost automotive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the transmission made an abnormal sound while starting the vehicle and while driving, and the torque converter was shuddering. The contact and his father diagnosed the vehicle as having a cylinder misfire and performed a compression test on the engine. The contact replaced the lifter and push rods, deactivated and removed the Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM), modified the engine, replaced transmission fluid, and used Lube Gard Instant Shudder Fixx for the torque converter shudder. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
