2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN Complaints

Rear door locks malfunction and fail resulting in doors locking. They then cannot be unlocked and opened either with key fob or manually. This is a major safety issue.

The actuator on the left passenger side sliding door is buzzing every time the doors are opened.

My drivers side sliding door actuator was replaced several years ago under warranty due to buzzing noise. Now it will not allow that same door to release the lock to open it up.

Sliding door is permanently locked shut and doesn’t open. Have tried to open from outside and inside the car. Will not lock or unlock due to being locked all the time.

2016 Dodge Grand Caravan, sliding passenger door on driver side will not unlock or open. Per local mechanic the lock actuator has failed. Should I end up in an accident someone could be trapped in the vehicle. I also transport a mobile wheelchair and can only load it from side doors. Should the other latch fail it will be impossible to load or remove wheelchair. This should be a safety issue.

At 70,000 was told from dealership my transmission went out!!!! At 70,000 it should not have!!!! No warning lights prior nothing I was driving to work to get tickets for an event I left and when I turned on a busy street my van would not accelerate I was nervous and scared I had my kids in the car with me at the time. Finally it started to accelerate. Few short seconds later only to stop accelerating, it was like I was in neutral revving my engine I could not go. Luckily I could pull in a business and park til I could get it towed.

The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. The RPM increased rapidly, after which the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and began to roll backwards. The contact was able to bring the vehicle to a complete stop and shift into park, after which the vehicle returned to normal functionality. The check warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission hydraulic pump. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 140,000.

the door locks on the driver side rear sliding door became inoperable the door was unable to be opened at all, trapping passengers in an accident or an emergency

The side door actuator is malfunctioning. There is a loud buzzing noise that comes from the drivers side, side sliding door when locking and unlocking the van. Sometimes the door will not open at all and just keeps buzzing, I have also had issues unlocking the door as a result of the malfunctioning actuator. This is a HUGE safety concern as the door may or may not open and if it does this during an accident or other kind of emergency, the results could be catastrophic.
