2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN Complaints

When the auto lock or manual lock engages, a very loud buzzing noise happens. It is very distracting as it happens when you are driving.

The power sliding rear door on the driver side is stuck in a locked position for 4-5 days now. This has happened previously to our power sliding rear door on the passenger side as well (before the current extended warranty) and we corrected that issue on our own by replacing the door actuator. Now that it has happened again and there is a warranty on it, I took it to the dealership and they are telling me it is not the actuator that is broken but the door rod and latch and quoted $1600 to fix the problem. I personally think this is a deceptive practice to get out of replacing the actuator under the warranty, but I am not a mechanic. It sure is suspicious though seeing as the rod and latch are linked to the actuator. This is very dangerous and could cost lives if the vehicle was full of passengers who needed to exit quickly and the door was jammed shut. The fact that it is so closely related to the actuator that already has an extended warranty is a cause for concern.

Transmission differential began failing while driving. Van started clicking without warning or real cause. Moving to shop that specifically deals with transmissions. Had to have towed to avoid causing crash/more damage.

My vehicle began shutting completely off while in drive and approaching a stop. This has endangered myself as well as my family due to the current condition and unpredictability of the engine turning off while approaching a stop light or stop sign. The vehicle has been inspected by a dodge service location and the check engine light does come on. Also included is a mopar warranty bulletin addressing the same issue with the same engine but on previous years (2011-2013) of the grand caravan and multiple models. I am experiencing the same conditions on a 2016 dodge grand caravan.

The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train) and advised the contact to call the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 87,393.

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would stall as the RPMs would surge and the vehicle would fail to accelerate upon depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that her check The contact called two dealers and was informed by both engine had only appeared once on the instrument panel. dealers that her vehicle was not apart of NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000(Power Train). The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and was given the same information as the dealer. The transmission was replaced by an independent mechanic. Despite the transmission replacement, the contact had taken the vehicle back to the independent mechanic three times as the failure persisted and transmission fluid began to leak from the transmission. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

No warning lamps. I managed to reset the actuator but it jammed up again. The doors won't unlock or lock depending on the position the actuator failed in. I haven't taken this to a dealer, but based on several videos and forum questions I was able to self diagnose and reproduce the problem.

Vehicle started making whining sound on acceleration. Took in to dealer and they diagnosed the transmission pump had failed. Recommended transmission replacement due to damage from failed pump. Pump was recalled in campaign 16V461000 but my VIN is not included.
