The contact owns a 2014 Ducati Diavel. The contact stated that while riding 35-40 MPH, the motorcycle shuddered and then lost motive power with the rear tire seizing. The motorcycle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the crankshaft was faulty. The mechanic replaced the crankshaft, generator, ball bearing, electric starter, flange clutch, clutch, bushing, bearing needle, gasket, plain bearing, flywheel nut, aluminum washer, and oil filter; however, the failure recurred. The motorcycle was then taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with crankshaft failure. The motorcycle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 21,023.

AFTER LETTING MY MOTORCYCLE SIT FOR A PERIOD OF TIME (6 WEEKS) I WENT FOR A RIDE. AS I PULLED AWAY, I PRESSED MY REAR BRAKE PEDAL, AND FELT THAT I HAD NO REAR BRAKE. AFTER "PUMPING" UP THE REAR BRAKE I DID GET SOME BRAKE BACK, BUT IT WENT AWAY WITHIN MINUTES. EVERY TIME I RIDE MY BIKE NOW, I HAVE TO CONTINUALLY "PUMP" THE BRAKE TO GET THE BRAKE TO PROPERLY FUNCTION. I HAVE TALKED TO THE DEALER ABOUT THIS, AND THEY STATED "THAT IS JUST THE WAY IT IS... DUCATI KNOWS ABOUT IT, BUT THEY ARE NOT DOING ANY WARRANTY REPAIR, AS IT IS JUST A POOR DESIGN". ALL THE DUCATI MOTORCYCLE FORUMS ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, BUT DUCATI WILL STILL NOT ISSUE A FIX FOR IT. I GUESS A BUNCH OF FOLKS HAVE TO GET KILLED FIRST. *TR
