    - Danielsville, GA

    Def head sensor failure causing an unsafe derate condition. The rv will only go 5mph causing me to not be able to get to a safe location. As i understand the engine and def system are functioning as they should but the malfunctioning sensor has caused the engine to shut down or derate to 5mph.

    DEF Fluid Sensor failure codes displayed and warnings of impending engine delayed or shutdown. Cold not continue driving. My safety concern is my vehicle can be stranded on a roadside which my not be possible for a 45 Foot Motorhome. Many RV’s are having this issue and the Manufacture of this unit SHAW Industry can not supply any parts. Leaving many stranded!

  • 2019 ENTEGRA ASPIRE

    DEF sensor/head made by Shaw Industries. Currently up to Generation 7. IT IS NOT AVAILBALE FOR INSPECTION TAKEN BY REPAIR COMPANY. Vehicle engine gives warning if you continue to drive will only allow 5 MPH and then shut down. Part was replaced and codes cleared. This is a common problem. Hard to get replacement parts. Codes can be found in SPartan manual.

  • 2016 ENTEGRA ANTHEM
    - Livingston, TX

    DEF Head failure, SPN 1761, FMI 3. Bad tank level sensor, will cause derate of engine performance/speed/rpm in an unknow future time period. Will take the unit down to 5 mph with little notice. During this time the DEF pump and after treatment process is continuing with no environmental effects, this is only a tank level sensor failure, but the engine forces an eventual shutdown. At this time the tank level sensor is not a replaceable item, the whole DEF Head must be replaced at close to $1000. and now there is a national supply shortage of the unit.

    Vehicle has approximately 30,800 miles. A check engine light with error codes SPN: 3364, 1761, 3331 indicating a failure of the DEF ( diesel exhaust fluid) sensor. This results in a degrade in performance to a point of engine shutdown. Replacement parts are very hard to obtain because this error is so common.

    DEF heads failed aftwr only 10k mikes. Was told by Cummins dealer that the Spaetan DEF heads were failing at an alarming rate. I called Spartan and was told by customer service (Hunter) that the DEF heads fail all the time.

    DEF sensor failed twice. Potential engine derate or shut down. Problem well known to chassis manufacturer. Failure announced by Check Engine Light and three well known codes. Time or distance to derate/shutdown is unknown, and consequently could result in a large motor home stopped on the road.

  • 2018 ENTEGRA CORNERSTONE
    - Weatherford, TX

    Shortly after starting the engine a “CHECK ENGINE” warning appeared on the warning system. I went through diagnostics and found 3 codes relating to DEF head failure. There have been a large number of these in Entegra Coach motor homes in the last 6-12 months.

  • 2018 ENTEGRA ASPIRE
    - Germansville, PA

    DEF tank head failure. 3 codes on dash, engine light and check engine light. NO warning of when a derate would start, or when an engine shutdown may occur. New part supplied by manufacturer had crystilized DEF on it when recieved at service facility. Suspect supplier may be refurbushing older units, and trying to pass them off as new next generation. Unless and until the manufacturers of these DEF systems can come up with a system that works for 100,000 miles and up, the EPA needs to start to relax the rules on the diesel engine emissions.
