2018 FORD EDGE- Lincoln, RI
I have a 2018 Ford EDGE. VIN [XXX] I bought brand new from Tasca Ford, Seekonk MA 02771 (508) 336-7200 in late 2018. My vehicle has never been driven by anyone; I am the sole owner and take exceptionally diligent care of my vehicle. The year of the vehicle, though 8 years old now, only has 39,579 miles on it as of today as I have not driven far, and no one drove in 2020 Covid. I just paid out of pocket $4472.58 on Saturday for a repair to my vehicle that Ford Motor Company, new about. I should never have to have paid anything, as this is a major safety issue. It was never recalled, however, was only a bulletin sent to all dealerships only. They repaired only the cars that people brought in and complained out. I lost 2 hours of work when I first brought it in to be diagnosed. It took 2 weeks for my vehicle to be repaired. In the entire month of July, all I did was cry and worry about how I was going to pay this money. I called Ford Customer Service; they denied me because my vehicle was 8 years old, and not 7 years. Yet my mileage was way under the number they had put a cap on. There was not budging them. I have letters/ email that I mailed to the President of Ford in early July pleading for help on this, and a letter to one of the Ford family members who only deals with investments. No one had the decency to respond. It has been well for over a month. I called the executive phone number at least 15 times, leaving messages; the answering machine says they will reply in the next business day. Nothing. I have contacted the Massachusetts AG's office, for consumer complaints, as it was listed in Google, since I bought my vehicle in Massachusetts and had the repairs done there. I am distraught. I am [XXX], and this is egregious. I have all the paperwork showing what I paid for. I have the letters to the President of Ford. I can send you anything you need. Please help me! The check engine light came on and the repair shop used a scope to verify that there is coolant leaking into the engine. The only repair offered is to replace the engine. We did not notice any warning signs prior to the check engine light illuminating.

ECO boost 2.0 engine. Took vehicle to a Ford dealer because check engine light came on. Was told that I had a coolant intrusion into the engine heads. Motor needs to be replaced. Found out this is not an isolated problem for this engine. Contacted Ford and was told there is nothing that they can do about it.

We bought a used car from Carvana and had a check engine light come on in the first month for P0304- cylinder 4 misfire. We got all 4 spark plugs and ignition coils replaced and drove 500 miles to North Carolina the next month and again the check engine light came on for P0304. We are being told there is a known safety issue on this model for coolant intruding into the engine that causes this recurrent code. Now we are currently stranded in another state without a working vehicle and are looking at potentially needing a full engine block replacement for upwards of $10,000. If this is a known issue by Ford and they are even in class action lawsuits about it, why is it not a safety recall???? The coolant is known to leak into the cylinders and engine, which can cause the engine to seize and the only solution is a full replacement. The manufacturer should be responsible for replacing these especially because they are aware that this is a common issue.

Cylinder #2 misfire code repeatedly appearing even after changing spark plug and ignition coil. Took to the Ford dealer and it was determined it is an issue of coolant leakage in cylinder number 2. Ford dealer has diagnosed and performing engine replacement. Seems like this is a known problem that Ford refuses to issue an actual recall for and instead puts onto the customer.

Not sure if this is due to the recall from 2025 that does not have a remedy yet but driving my car makes me extremely nervous because my brakes are becoming difficult to use. Just wondering what I can do and what options have.

Coolant leakage in cylinder number (2) two. Causing a misfire and check engine light to display. Ford dealer has diagnosed and suggested engine replacement. Upon researching, this seems to be a known issue with this motor and can cause complete failure.

Engine overheated, Few months prior I got a check engine light for engine misfire, I changed the spark plugs several times, then I changed the ignition coil; but still having the same issue. One day, the vehicle stalled on the highway because it suddenly overheated (the engine drank all the coolant) White smoke coming from exhaust and coolant drains every 2 days. Took it to the mechanic and was told its head gasket problem. Took it to Ford service center and was told I need to replace the engine. The cost is $9800. Ford is offering no financial assistance. TSB 19-2345 highlights the issue yet Ford refuses to help customers experiencing this problem. I’m unable to drive the vehicle because it fails the state inspection even with a temporary fix.
