2017 FORD EDGE Complaints

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a coolant leak into the engine, causing engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

I took my Ford Edge in as the engine was making a loud rattling noise, i was told i had a cracked Flex plate and Ford will only cover half. I was NEVER notified of this recall and now i am in charge of paying 50% of a SAFETY issue because of Ford's mistake. I am now not able to drive my car advised by the mechanic because of this safety issue. This is a program by Ford and should be a recall. I should not be stuck paying 50% for something Ford messed up and am now not able to drive my vehicle as it was deemed unsafe. I also should not be paying 50% of something because Ford never legally notified me.

I am reporting a cracked cylinder block in my 2017 Ford edge with only 64000 miles and now not warranted for repair. I was informed by Ford Motor dealership it would cost me 10,000 dollars for entire engine replacement. I had two more payments before a total payoff on this vehicle.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline for the VIN to be added in an unknown recall. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

My car had a check engine light on and I took it to the dealership to get it checked out and they said that coolant had leaked into cylinder 2 causing misfire and the whole engine needed replaced. The ford rep said it’s a common issue know with that specific engine. Coolant is very flammable and could’ve very easily started an engine fire.

The mechanic determined that the engine needed to be replaced and related the failure to TSB Number: 22-2229. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.

The contact was able to pull over and noticed that the temperature gauge was past high. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was like Technical Service Bulletin: 19-2346 and 19-2208. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined related the failure to DTC: P0302 - Cylinder #2 misfire was detected. The spark plugs and ignition coils were replaced. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that coolant was leaking into the engine, and an engine replacement was recommended. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, opened a case, and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 55,908.
