2017 FORD EDGE Complaints

There is a crack in the block that is causing coolant to leak into the cylinder. This is a very common issue with these motors and should have been recalled a long time ago

I bought my 2017 ford edge titanium last year back in dec of 2023. Well she had about 124k miles on it when i got it. Well theres almost 170 k miles on it now and i been very thorough with my maintenance. Transmission fluid, spark plus etc. Well im workin in tulsa one night and drop someone off and begin to hear this rattle noise. Well im an 1hr 30 mins away from hime so im prayin that i get back hime safely. Well i make it back. I take it to my mechanic and he said it sounds like your flex plate is bad or cracked. Well my understanding is other 2017 ford edges with my 2.0 engine and 6f35 transmission has a torque converter stud bolts weld problem recall. Apparently thats what could be causing my flex plate to crack all of a sudden. Just the only thing listed under my vin is a csp. To me if the torque conver weld stud bolts werent welded or tightened right at the factory i feel like that should be on fords end to cover the repair vs regular wear and tear. Like my way of explaining is say you borrow something from someone and you break it. They shouldnt be liable if its your mistake? True? I dont want no lawsuit. I just want ford to fix the issue with my car that their defect caused. Many blessings and Merry Christmas and thanks a million.

I own a 2017 Ford Edge. I noticed white smoke and check engine light came on. I took the vehicle to a dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with coolant intrusion and engine failure. I was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. Failure was approximately 80,000 There are thousands of ford cars reported with this engine issue: Other affected models include the 2015-2018 Edge, 2017-2019 Escape, and 2017-2019 Lincoln MKC and MKZ I am worried on engine overheating, misfires and car stops suddenly in traffic and case a crash, and even fires I see Ford Fusion engines have been recalled I don't understand why the other models are not recalled also.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle stalled and there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment, with white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. Additionally, there was an abnormal odor coming from the inside of the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that there was coolant intrusion into the engine and that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact researched and was made aware of Technical Service Bulletin Number: 19-2346. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

Brought car with 54k miles. Went to dealer 1 month before warranty ended. I was told there were specific problems which I fixed. I later went back a few months later and was told it’s the battery. The Check engine light came back on a month later. I was told Coolant is leaking into the engine requiring you to need new engine. It’s dangerous because car won’t go over 20 mph. Even if you push gas you can’t go faster. Smoke coming out of exhaust. Smell is toxic. There is no explanation as to why this happens.

It appears that just 85000 miles this engine is starting to consume engine coolant. I am afraid this is going to lead to major engine repair costs.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that upon depression of the brake pedal, an abnormal banging noise emitted from the vehicle without warning. The vehicle then began to hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal as fellow motorists assisted the contact by pushing the vehicle up an incline and into a parking lot. While in the parking lot, the contact restarted the vehicle and placed into reverse(R); however, the vehicle moved forward while in reverse(R). The contact restarted the vehicle for a second time and vehicle resumed normal operation. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls or warranties on the vehicle. The contact was then referred to the manufacturer who also offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

2.0L EcoBoost with Coolant in Cylanders, White Exhaust Smoke and Illuminated MIL. 12/3/24 - Schicker Ford, Union, MO repair cost for new engine is $6,636.86

Check engine light came on with code P0302. Brought it to the Ford dealership. They diagnosed and determined coolant is leaking into an engine cylinder. This required a new engine, according to the dealership, and they replaced it under extended warranty. This happened at 40,000 miles on the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic, where the spark plugs were replaced; however, the check engine warning light illuminated after a while. The vehicle was taken back to the same independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion in the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
