2017 FORD EDGE Complaints

My check engine light came on and I took it to a repair shop and they said that I had antifreeze in my oil and would need a new engine and that it was a defect in the engine and Ford hasn’t done a recall on it so I would have to pay the $9000 to replace the engine.

The contact owns a 2017 FORD Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: (25V544000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

I bought this car used in 2020 with 76,000 miles on it. Three months into ownership my engine blew this was caused from coolant leaking into the cylinder. I paid $8000 to replace the engine because it was out of factory warranty fast-forward to 2025 and I am replacing the engine again because the engine that was put in it was it used one with the same problems. This is an known issue with this vehicle. It’s been widely they reported. In fact, there is a class action lawsuit. How is it fair to a consumer to spend all of this money and not have a vehicle that is free from defects that the manufacturer is aware of. I’m making payments on this car and still having to sink money into it. When are you going to help us? There are thousands of us out here.

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated while decelerating or while coming to a complete stop with the brake pedal depressed. No warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. In addition, the contact stated that upon further inspection, there was brake fluid leaking near the rear tires. The brake fluid reservoir was topped off. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 176,800.

My 2017 Ford Edge SE has been diagnosed with having a coolant intrusion into cylinders. I was not made aware of this defect neither by the dealer I purchased or by Ford. It seems like I might have to replace the engine which an inconvience given that I have own the car for less than 3 weeks.

Engine is mis firing on cold engine startup and is loosing coolant. Cause may be faulty engine block.

recall notice 25V544 was sent out Aug 2025, and it's the end of April 2026 and nothing has been announced. Called my local dealer and they said it is now looking like May for a remedy. My brakes failed from this recall in February and its undrivable...and Ford is not doing anything to address this

There has been no accident as of yet. However Ford has sat on a recall for potential bad break lines on the 2017 Ford edge for 8 Months. Loss of breaks could easily result in multiple DEATHS. I would consider this as an egregious time to get flexible break line. A search of ford parts stores indicate it is available. [XXX] have the parts listed as Ford F2GZ-2282-C Brake Hose Assembly Ford F2GZ-2282-C Brake Hose Assembly Passenger Side (Replaced By F2GZ-2282-G) and Ford F2GZ-2282-D Brake Hose Assembly Driver Side (Replaced By F2GZ-2282-H) at $10.72 ea. This seems to include the updated part number. What is the hold up on such a serious safety issue resolution? Consumer Complaint Summary Nature of Dispute: Refusal to reimburse for safety-related recall repair (Recall 25S87). Summary: On April 6, 2026, my 2017 Ford Edge (VIN: [XXX] ) became undrivable due to a failure of the rear brake jounce hoses. This specific defect is the subject of Ford Safety Recall 25S87. Because the vehicle was a safety hazard, I paid $1,854.43 for an immediate repair at an authorized Ford dealership. Despite the dealer successfully performing the repair, Ford Motor Company (Case #XXX-XXX) has refused my request for reimbursement and rental assistance. Ford claims "parts are not officially available" until April 2026, yet they allowed their dealer to sell me the parts for a private repair. This refusal violates my legal right to a free remedy for a safety defect under federal law. [XXX] and [XXX] (unknown Last name) reiterated the refusal to reimburse my repair an told me after I have it repaired when the new parts are available I can submit my invoice for potential (not guaranteed) reimbursement.
