2017 FORD EDGE Complaints

On 08/17/22 I took my car into Bill Collins because there was a loss of coolant, and my SUV was acting up. It was jerking randomly. At the time the SUV was noted to have 63,860 miles. Dealership fixed recalls on vehicle and did a pressure test and said there was a water pump leak. Replaced water pump and gasket. Check engine light remained on and when asked dealership about it they said in order to get the check engine light off it would have to go to another part of the dealership, and we would be charged another $99 diagnostic fee. On 11/21/22 SUV was taken back to Bill Collins because it was still doing the same thing. This time you could also hear water moving/draining from behind the dash and the check engine light was still on. Dealership fixed another recall showing on vehicle and said that the water pump had air pocket. Sent home but sputtering engine was not fixed. 12/08/22 contacted dealership again to let them know that nothing they have done over the past several months has worked and SUV is still acting up. Was told they would have a higher up mechanic look at vehicle to see what the issue was. Dealership contacted us two days later stating that vehicle needs a new motor. Current mileage 67,883. Dealership stated they verified coolant intrusion into cylinder and that it is necessary to replace the long block. Exact verbiage from dealership employee. (Coolant intrusion into cylinder #2. Verified defective engine block. Coolant leaking internally.) My SUV has been in and out of Bill Collins Ford for the past 4 months and no one could figure out the problem. Yet, when we spoke to Bill Collins about the new motor, we were told at that time that this is a known issue. Yet, no one mentioned it for 4 months and I've been driving my vehicle in this condition? I work for Ford and have supported Ford for the past 7 years. I am wanting to understand how Ford is going to make this right.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was notified that there was a misfire in cylinder #3. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the engine block was deformed, causing coolant to leak into the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 58,267.

2017 Edge 2.0 ecoboost 1. Cylinders have coolant and oil in them...affected by the engine misfire associated with the coolant leaking into the cylinders. Available for inspection. 2. Car started to smoke.and over heat while my kids were inside, the risk of fire was exponentially high. 3. Inspected by car dealership, due to desire to sell it, and autozone manager who is a mechanic. 4. Yes check engine light anx then the " reduced power to protect engine " and then " coolant over temp" and at a little over 60 thousand miles.

front driver side Brake hose went out. got it fixed at the ford dealership. a couple months later my front passenger side brake hose went out. got it fixed at the ford dealership, but this time the dealership told me my master cylinder was bad and I needed to get that fixed too. ford finally acknowledged the problem, but it took them a year to actually fix it. a year after they acknowledged the recall and actually fixed it a couple months later my rear brake hose went out. however ford dealership refused to fix the rear brake hose, the dealership said the rear brake hoses were not included in the recall (only the front brake hoses).

Vehicle unsafe to drive due to possible engine failure Estimate to repair, per 3rd party mechanic is $10,000 (Ford Tech confirmed) Power Train Warranty is 60,000. Problem occurred at 69,000 miles. Research indicates this is a common problem with this and other Ford vehicles, with Class Action Law Suits in several states. However, it is not covered under a recall at this time.

The contact stated while her husband was removing items from the truck, the contact heard a dinging sound from the vehicle followed by the hatchback of the truck closing. The contact’s husband was able to move out of the way. On another occasion, the failure occurred again and struck the contact's husband on the shoulder causing minor injuries but he did not seek medical attention. The failure reoccurred several times. The dealer was contacted and stated they could exchange the vehicle for another one; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 96,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact's husband used a code reader which showed a misfire in cylinder #2. The contact's husband also discovered that coolant had started leaking from the engine. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was confirmed that coolant had leaked into cylinder#2 causing engine failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

We took our vehicle in due to a check engine light and rough start and idle. Upon inspection -Code #P0303 (Cal 3 Misfire) The technician noted no coolant in reservoir and no external leaks were noted. They said we need a new engine because of that internal coolant leak and referred us to the manufacture to in hopes of replacing the engine. I am going to call Ford ASAP, however there are no current recalls for this issue and will most likely have to pay out of pocket for a new engine. - The engine has an internal coolant leak, yes it is available for inspection upon request. - Our Safety is at risk because this can lead to engine stalls or fire without notice. - Yes, the problem can be reproduced and has been confirmed by an independent service. - No the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer yet, but I am beginning that process now. - The check engine light came on once but is no longer on despite the problem not being fixed.

2017 FORD EDGE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO NHTSA SAFETY RECALL 22V-413. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE CONTACTED THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE PARTS ARENT AVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL.

The contact stated when he started the vehicle, the gear shifted to drive without any warning causing the vehicle to crash into the fence and the neighbor's porch, causing damages front end of the vehicle and under the vehicle. The contact was able to stop the vehicle. No one was injured and no police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and they stated that the vehicle was experiencing a similar failure as recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train) but the vehicle was already serviced under that recall and the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 28,000.
