2013 FORD ESCAPE Complaints

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle was unable to accelerate to exceed 25 MPH. There was also a knocking sound coming from the engine. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle safely to her residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while in the parking lot, the power steering became inoperable. The steering wheel was difficult to turn. The steering fault must be serviced message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed them the module needed to be programmed and replaced and referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinon and module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 68,020. The consumer stated the steering fault was repaired on August 2022.

On 5/27/22 I was stopped at a red light/intersection and when the light turned green I accelerated only to realize that my car was barely rolling into the intersection only because I was at an incline because my transmission was not moving my vehicle. Since I was now in the middle of the intersection there were cars honking at me, swerving around me, not knowing I was stalled. I couldn't get my car to move by pressing the gas pedal all I could do was raise my hands in the air to let others know I didn't know what was happening. My engine was revving when I pushed the gas pedal but there was no forward motive. My gear shifter was still in Drive and there were no warning lights to alert me of any problems or concerns, even while I'm pressing it frequently and my car is not moving like it should. The next time I pushed the gas my forward motive in the transmission had returned. I wasn't quite sure what happened. I drove (approx.) another 15 miles and came to a 3 way stop and when I accelerated, there again, was no forward motive but the engine was revving when I accelerated. Again, no warning, no warning lights signaling a malfunction with the car but no forward movement by pushing the accelerator. I was coasting into a parking lot and as I pushed the accelerator again. This time the transmission engaged but with a loud noise and a thrust forward of my car, at which time, a check engine light finally came on. I had to have the car towed and transmission replaced.

The contact stated that while the daughter was driving approximately 35 mph the vehicle would not properly accelerate and experienced jerking before eventually stalling. upon inspection, it was discovered that the coolant had leaked from the vehicle. The contact replaced the coolant temperature sensor and the coolant tank and the vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the engine water pump. Eventually, the failures reoccurred and the local dealer advised that the coolant lines were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 178,000.

We have had to replace vacuum pump 4xs ,had multiple engine repairs done, turbo replaced ,jumped time 3xs, replace ABS sensor 2xs, wheel bearings 2xs, CV axels 2xs, since day 1 has been blowing lights in turn signals and brake lights, wiring issue, have replaced control arms,tie rods,tie rod ends, and so much more, have had transmissions since day one, needs evap system repaired again, transmission replaced a second time, having power reductions, and this vechiile has costed us over 12,000, Have been informed of 2 recalls Time frame 12/2015 to current date.

We have had massive probelms with the 2013 Ford Escape. We have had to have engine repairs done due to it jumping time, replaced the turbo, we have gotten really poor gad mileage and have to have transmission rebuilt . we continually since purchase expereinced nothing but probelms. we get messages stating 4wd unavailble, hill start assist not engaged. and so much more. this has been the worst vechile we have ever owned

The engine coolant light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the coolant plug needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall. The failure mileage was 161,825.

August 8,2022 my 2013 Ford Escape displayed my engine temperature was high temperature & to stop safely. Had the truck towed & the dealer stated it codes were coolant hose C value, coolant hose & sensors. They fixed it all it drove good for 2days & the same thing happen again saying the engine was over heating but it wasn’t. It had coolant in it & was not leaking anywhere. Did another diagnosis it still saying the same thing. Problem not fixed

The contact was able to move the gear shifter into park (P) position but the vehicle would not turn off and the message "Shift to Park" was displayed. The local dealer was contacted and informed that the parts for the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train) were not yet available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 117,000.

Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle hesitated to respond. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that no issues were found. The contact received a recall notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train). However, the parts to do the recall repair were not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time to complete the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired.
