2016 FORD F-250 SD Complaints

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-250. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V337000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light, the ESC warning light, and the oil change warning light were illuminated. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V337000 (Air Bags). The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

A notice of recall was received July 2022 by my family with the following numbers: Safety Recall Notice 22S35 / NHTSA Recall 22V337. I called NHTSA today to follow up on this notice, which in July 2022 I was told by Parsons Ford the fix was not available as of yet. [XXX] with NHTSA gave me a number to Ford's customer care hotline. Ford contacted Malloy Ford in Winchester VA which is suppose to call us when an actionable fix is available. They have no clue when that will be so I contacted NHTSA again today which now says there is no recall on my vehicle. So are we driving a vehicle that could potentially kill us or not. Yesterday (3/20/23), as I was driving on the interstate at about 70 miles per hour, I hit a bump in the road and that caused the truck to go into severe shaking which I later learned has been termed as the "death wobble". I had to pull over to the emergency lane and stop the vehicle in order to get the vehicle under control. Luckily, there were not many vehicles on the road at the time so moving from the middle lane to the emergency lane on the right side was easy to do without causing any disruption to other drivers. I called my mechanic about the situation and he was the one to tell me it was the "death wobble" and it is common in Ford trucks and Jeeps. This was my first time experiencing this "death wobble" and it scared the crap out of me. In the past, I've hit bumps before and the truck felt like it might bounce off the road, but it never continuously shook (and shake violently) like it did yesterday. There was no warning or warning lights or anything like that that came on. As I was going to the emergency lane I did turn on the emergency flashers. I have an appointment with my mechanic to get this looked at in a week. That was the soonest I could get in.

Maintained Truck and did all required maintenance. Truck blew up while driving. All oil leaked out. Ford found hole in upper oil pan. Truck had poor fuel Truck has exhaust issues and ford can’t correct Lost truck and a lot of money , engine needs to be replaced.

I had the F-250 Death Wobble. I hit a bump at 70mph and the entire truck started shaking violently. It didn’t stop shaking until I slowed down to 30mph on the highway. This had the potential to be a life threatening accident if I would have lost control, especially since this happens at high speeds. Thousands of people have had the death wobble, why won’t the NHTSA mandate Ford to fix this?

In December 2022, I received a safety recall notice from Ford stating, dust contamination may lead to loss of electrical circuit connection, which may result in failure of airbag to deploy in an accident. Ford stated that when parts become available, they would notify me via email to schedule a service appointment for repairs to be completed free of charge (parts & labor). Parts are anticipated to be available early first quarter 2023. My dealer has no information about availability of parts yet. I am following up, in hope to learn the status of this important safety recall. DEF heater/sender assembly was replaced under Ford 21M01 recall. However, the damaged caused by these defective items caused the need to repair additional component's that was not paid for by Ford. Ford will not reimburse additional cost, and can not furnish a statement from a Ford engineer that states the defective replaced parts did not cause the additional repairs. (expense).
