2020 FORD F-250 SD Complaints

This is the 6th time this has happened. All driving speeds from 60-75 mph. Will hit a random bump in the road and the front end will go in to a severe death wobble. When this happens you cannot steer the vehicle, or stop it easily. The only way to make it stop is to get slowed down to 20 mph or so. We have had it at the dealership we’ve purchased it from several times with no fix yet. It has become scary to drive for both me and my wife. Ford should have a recall out before it kills anybody.

I just purchased this 2020 F250 on 10/21/21 with 39000 miles. While driving the vehicle on a Ft Worth toll road at 70 mph, below posted speed limit of 75, truck and steering wheel began to shake violently. Luckily there was light traffic that kept me from causing an accident before I could get it stopped. Took vehicle to Ford dealer and was told my vin # is not included in trucks that Ford has been fixing. An internet search of "F250 death wobble" will show how widespread this problem is. Ford knows there is a problem but will not do anything to solve it.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the engine began to sputter and misfire with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the spark plug wires were faulty and needed to be replaced. The spark plug wires were replaced with the manufacturer’s OEM wires however, approximately three months later the failure recurred. The mechanic installed the new improved spark plug wires ordered from the manufacturer and the failure was remedied. The local dealer and the manufacturer were contacted and made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,200.

High speed wobble when driving over un even pavement such as a transition from asphalt to concrete. if turning slightly while driving 60 - 70 miles/hr and you run over slightly rough pavement, it will start to wobble violently and you have to slow to 25 or 30 miles/hr for it to stop. when you are on a multi lane highway and on the inside lane(s) you have to navigate to the shoulder to slow down and it is very dangerous. there is many internet articles reflecting this exact situation and it is a design defect with the F250. I would hope a recall would be issued to require Ford to fix this problem before someone is killed. Right now the only option available is to buy and after market stabilizer to try and minimize this issue. thanks

Transmission will not shift and sends you into high rpms just for you to let out and eventually have to stop or put in neutral to sort of reset shifting. It also will, out of nowhere, not move when you hit accelerator. This happened to me several times pulling into traffic. Hit the accelerator to go only to have enough to get you in traffic and no more acceleration. A delay for up to 3-5 seconds. This was the most dangerous aspect of the truck. The other dangerous aspect due to transmission is that when putting in gear the truck would slam you forward. If you didn't have a firm foot on brake you would be slamming into whatever is in front of you. When I say form foot, I mean [XXX] near standing in it. It is in ford shop currently. Not sure what to do with this truck after I get it back. Been in shop 3 weeks without any update to what is wrong. The brake pedal was applied however, the vehicle was slow to respond and decelerate. Additionally, while reversing the vehicle accelerated without warning. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer on multiple occasions where it was diagnosed with a reprogramming needed and turbo adjustment. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was next taken to Benson Ford, Inc (4701 Calhoun Memorial Hwy, Easley, SC 29640, (864) 855-5383) and diagnosed that the transmission valve body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The contact mentioned that he was concerned about driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 1,000.

Severe hesitation when accelerating from a crawl. There is a definite issue with either the 10 speed trans or the throttle.

Vehicle hesitates when pressing accelerator from complete stop slow speed. Scares me sometimes when trying to cross a busy intersection. You press on the gas and vehicle either doesn't move for an instant or if rolling vehicle will actually slow down before taking off. This happens multiple time a day.

On numerous occasions when trying to accelerate to merge into traffic, the throttle does not respond to the request for multiple seconds, then power is returned and truck lunges. This has caused merging traffic to not understand my intention and they overcompensate. This also happens when trying to overcome another vehicle, which could lead to inability and raises risk of not having enough anticipated lead time to overcome other vehicle.

Vehicle shakes violently when driving at highway speed 65-70 mph even slower, have to stop almost completely on highways! Very dangerous, as soon front tires hit any imperfections on the road even small pot hole or open joints on the road. This is a pretty known problem on previous trucks '17-'18 problem still on 2020 trucks my start doing it at 39500 miles. Hoping Ford make a recall for this just like they did with the 2018 f250 that I used to have.
