2019 FORD F-250 SD Complaints

This is related to Campaign # 20N04 Steering Linkage Damper. Ford is aware of this problem and when I accelerate and hit a bump in the road the whole front end of the truck vibrates uncontrollably and i have to slam on the brakes to get the vehicle under control. I have taken it in to the Ford Dealership in Thomasville and they supposedly have ordered the part. My truck was there for 3 weeks and they did not fix the problem. I have called left messages and they have not returned my calls. I don't feel safe driving the vehicle and they will not give me the status update on when the part is going to come in.

Upper fuel filter developed a crack on top, spraying diesel fuel all over the interior of the engine compartment. Smelled fuel in the interior vents, then saw smoke trailing the truck in my rear view mirror. Pulled over at a mini-mart, opened the hood and saw the fuel spray fanning out from the top of the filter, along with smoke coming from the engine. Turned off the engine and the spray stopped.Smoke/vapor was reduced. No fire.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated that both the forward facing and the rearview camera images had become progressively foggy and appeared cloudy on the display screen. The contact initially took the vehicle to a dealer and informed the dealer of the failure; the contact was given an estimate for the repair. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V644000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the recall only addressed the rearview camera and not the forward-facing camera. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

While driving on more than one occasion the front of the truck and steering wheel starts violently shaking. It makes it hard to control. Once you pull over and stop, you can resume driving without issue. You never know when it will happen.

* On September 14, 2022, while driving Canada 2 near Fredericton at approximately 65 MPH, I crossed an overpass expansion joint at which time my 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty steering started oscillating violently (the well know “Death Wobble”). The truck had to be slowed and stopped on the road side to stop the oscillation. The truck is scheduled for inspection on September 28, 2022 at Waldorf Ford of Maryland. * My wife and I both were at risk as we were in the middle of tractor trailer traffic while trying to regain control of the steering and move the truck to safety. * The steering oscillation repeated itself 3 more times traveling from Canada to Maryland to return home from travel. I was able to minimize the effect by keeping my speed under 55 MPH. * The truck is scheduled for inspection by a Ford Service Center, Waldorf Ford of Maryland on September 28, 2022. * There were no warnings of any kind prior to the steering oscillation.

While driving on Interstate 45 south of Houston at highway speeds, the steering wheel began heavily vibrating after hitting a small pothole in the freeway. It vibrated violently until I was able to apply the brakes and slow to under 40 mph. At that point, it smoothed out and control was restored.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250 SD. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH and driving over a speed bump, the vehicle started to shake uncontrollably. The contact stated that the vehicle was pulled over and stopped, restarted, and the vehicle operated normally; however, the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle was experiencing the death wobble. The contact was informed that the upper and lower ball joints needed to be replaced. Additionally, the driver’s and passenger’s side control arms needed to be replaced. The dealer stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure stated in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20E090000 (Steering, Suspension, Equipment). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 80,000. The VIN was not available.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving downhill approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle started shaking and vibrating uncontrollably while driving over surface changes in the road pavement. The contact was able to stop and inspect the vehicle but was unable to identify the cause of the failure. After continuing the long-distance trip, the failure reoccurred on two separate occasions. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure but suggested that a suspension stabilizer bar be installed on the vehicle; however, the part was on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 27,000.

The first time it happened was about 9/3/2022. I was driving down the road at 60 mph and hit the rumble strip in the middle of the road. The truck started shaking violently until I slowed substantially. I started back up and it was fine. On three separate occasions it has started to do this went hitting a bump in the road. Each time I was driving about 60 mph and it stopped when I slowed substantially. It is almost impossible to steer it when it happens and it is very dangerous.

Drive train vibration, also known as “Death Wobble.” My truck is experiencing shaking, or vibration at driving speeds of 70MPH. Problem is getting worse.
