2022 FORD F-350 SD Complaints

Hit a bump and the truck shook out of control. Better known as the Death Wobble. I was driving with a fully loaded 38 foot goose neck trailer( 8tons). There was no where to pull over and had to literally stop in the middle of the road to regain control.

Today I was getting ready to blow some snow out of my driveway and had to move my truck. It's normally parked at a slight incline where putting it in park is usually sufficient and have never needed to use a parking brake. When I re-parked the truck, I had to put it in 4WD to get up in the driveway because we had a lot of wet slushy snow. So after I get it parked, I put it back in 2WD, put it in park, and turn off the ignition. I then got out of the truck and started over to the snow blower to get back to work. I suddenly started seeing the truck rolling backwards as if it was in neutral (which is was not). I was running towards the truck to try and jump in and stop it, and then it suddenly stopped on it's own. But I bet it rolled back a good 3 or 4 feet before it finally stopped. It actually set off the alarm system in the truck, which was no surprise rolling that far. I feel this is definitely a safety issue because if a small child was behind the truck, or even myself, it could have been disastrous.

This vehicle has 360 bird eye camera system. When going in reverse, if the front camera has more light then the rear camera, the rear camera display is dark/black. Result is it is impossible to see if you are backing into a person/object etc. This occurs when backing up into a shaded area (heavy trees in a parking lot, parking awning, or garage. This is easily reproducible, occurs every time and many owners are discussing it on forums. Once the front camera is also in the shade you can see objects behind you.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-350 SD. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH with the trailer hitched to the vehicle, the vehicle downshifted suddenly to 37 MPH. There was no warning light illuminated. The passenger's side of the trailer went sideways and blocked the roadway; however, the trailed remained hitched to the vehicle. The contact then disengaged the towing mode and was able to drive the trailer into a ditch in order to clear the roadway. The contact then drove to his residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the integrated trailer brake control module software was updated under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V193000 (Electrical System). Additionally, the contact stated that there was no oil in the rear axle differential. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 5,800.

Multiple fail alerts for the transmission and engine. The transmission was not shifting gears, very loud noise inside cab and vehicle would barley move at times. Initially, dealer said nothing wrong and cleared the dash alert. Issue returned the next time it was driven. Multiple alerts stated the transmission torque converter clutch was not operating/failed, along with a four-wheel drive fault.

When connected to 5th Wheel trailer, trailer brakes strength is very weak. Even when increasing the trailer braking gain up to 10 still not completely stopping trailer.

The tailgate for my 2022 F-350 has opened while towing several times over the last two months. During one of these instances, the open tailgate struck and damaged my fifth wheel recreational vehicle (RV) trailer during a low speed left hand turn. The area where the tailgate hit our trailer is the battery compartment for our RV. If this where to happen at a high speed it has the potential to cause additional significant damage to a trailer and potentially cause consequential accidents while the vehicle is in motion. There was an open Customer Satisfaction Program opened by Ford associated with this issue and my vehicle's VIN (campaign # 21M05) in May 2022. Due to this alert, we brought our vehicle into a dealer in June 2022 (before towing our RV) and asked them to address this issue. At the time the Ford dealer declined to address the issue because there wasn't "a problem yet." The damage incident then happened and we brought our vehicle into a second Ford dealer (we were then living in our RV on the road so unable to return to our original dealer). They agreed (in writing) that there was an unintended tailgate opening while we were towing that caused damage, however they indicated that they didn't have an approved repair procedure from Ford at that time. We recently found out that Ford has since approved a procedure (on approximately 7/22/2022) and again brought our Ford into a third Ford dealer for repairs (8/11/2022). Ford is willing to fix the damage to the vehicle associated with this accident, however, they have been unresponsive regarding the consequential damages to our fifth wheel RV (bay door needs to be replaced with an estimated cost of more than $1,000). The fact that this keeps happening and that the tailgate is able to open while towing / while the vehicle is in drive is a massive issue. What if this happened while carrying a load on the highway? Unknown what the cause is. Put the vehicle in drive and once began moving forward, the transmission tool light came on, then shortly after the engine light appeared. Inside the cab got loud and the truck barely moved. Have called all local dealers. The dealer purchased the truck from 3mo ago has no one available to service. Will not diagnose, because the tool light is on. Next nearest said they are not providing appts, because they are several weeks out. Stated to drop off the vehicle, but unknown when they can get to it. A third can only diagnose a few weeks from now. As soon as I said the transmission was having trouble, the service tech immediately asked if it was a F-350 diesel. This has to be a recurring problem, for a specific question like that to be asked. Unable to get a diagnostic, as no dealer currently available.

I purchased this vehicle on 6/7/2022. Ford let me know there was a recall 2 days later. Ford tells me that I cannot drive the vehicle off of their lot until the parts have been replaced. Ford has no date available as to when the parts will be available. I would like to be able to drive the new truck I purchased. I have not even picked up the truck from the dealer.

The fuel lines are made of a plastic that attracts rodents. At 3000 miles on the odometer mine were chewed thru, I remote started it and saw the fuel dumping and spraying on the ground. Had I not seen or smelt the gas and got into the vehicle before starting it. It would have caught fire and burnt to the ground. Ford would not take ownership of this design flaw, rodent damage is not under their warranty, so I had to pay for the repair which included a 34 gallon fuel cell replacement. I would imagine many other vehicles including the recent SUV fires might have a similar issue. Once the fire starts, there's no way to establish root cause for the failure because all evidence would be destroyed.
