2019 FORD F-350 SD Complaints

I was driving the 2019 Ford F-350 XLT ( 027506.7 miles on odometer) on I 94 highway west of Detroit at highway speeds (65-70 mph). Highway had rough/spalling pavement due to winter freeze cycles. Vehicle hit rough patch of highway and vehicle started to violently started to shake and wobble while at the same time steering control of the vehicle was minimal and non responsive. I was able to slow down and eventually get the vehicle off on the shoulder of the highway where the shaking and wobble eventually stopped at slow speed. The incident of shake, wobble and loss of control was repeated on the east bound lane returning to my residence (different stretch of highway mileage). Again this loss of control due to the violent shaking and wobble required slowing down to well below posted speed and getting on to the shoulder of the highway. It took approximately between a quarter to one half of a mile to regain control of the vehicle and have the shaking/ shudder stop. In my view this imposes an extreme safety hazard.

Whenever I hit a bump the front end starts wobbling. The steering wheel shakes. This has been known as the "death wobble". You have to come to a complete stop for it to quit. This can cause accidents as it happens at random times. It has happened on four different occasions thus far.

For the 2nd time in 14 months my truck experienced violent steering oscillation after driving over an expansion joint on a highway bridge at 65 MPH. My truck was repaired after the 1st occurrence by replacing the steering dampener, I'm currently waiting to get my truck into the dealership to address this issue again. It gives me pause to think of what would happen if i was towing my 5th wheel camper & this issue presented its self.

Rims crack and fracture around base of air valve stem then lose air quickly going flat in minutes at high speed. This has happened multiple times, the Ford dealership welded the areas but over time they crack again and the for dealership welds them again. All but 1 of my 4 outside rims have this issue and it started with in the first 6 months of purchase. For will not replace the aluminum wheels only temporarily repair them.

Seat belt locks and will not allow movement while driving causing the driver to be pinned against the seat under normal driving conditions.

Death wobble at approximately 70 mph while cornering to the left and hitting a bump in the road. Front end started to violently shake and shaking was transferred to the steering wheel. I was able to pull to a stop on the side of the road. Got out and checked components on the front end to make sure no loose lug nuts or obvious tire problems. This has happened multiple times and the truck has less than 55,000 miles. All maintenance has been performed by the local Ford dealer at the recommended intervals. The truck is not modified in any way.

As I was driving this evening on a straight highway at highway speed, my front wheels started to violently shake uncontrollably. I had to apply the brakes to reduce my speed so that I could regain control of the truck. This is not the first time that this has happened but it was the most violent and uncontrollable event. From what information that I can find, this appears to be called the death wobble.

It is a common problem that the dual heat in Fords has issues. My heat has stopped working, and I can make it work by turning one side up and one side down, but it still doesn’t heat properly. This has happened to me with other year Ford vehicles, so it’s a problem they apparently aren’t looking to fix. Problem today is that I drove through freezing rain, passenger side iced over, driver side was barely clearing, obvious safety issue.

I was on the interstate traveling at or near the posted speed limit of 70 mph. I crossed over an eroding seam on the roadway at which point the vehicle, and steering wheel, began to shake uncontrollably. I pumped the brakes cautiously and kept the vehicle on the roadway. At approximately 50 mph the shaking quit and I was able to continue my trip without any additional issues.

While driving on freeway between 55 mph and 65 mph the truck shakes violently when driving over an uneven bridge transition or uneven bumps is highway. Impossible to control and had to pull over to stop. This has happened 3 times within a months time
