2019 FORD F-350 SD Complaints

While driving the speed limit of 60 mph. I drove over a bump in the road. The steering wheel stared shaking back and forth violently. The truck was barely controllable and could have ended in a deadly crash. The truck shook until I slowed to 15 mph. After getting home and researching the problem I found this is known as the death wobble. I see why it is called that. This problem is going to take people’s lives.

Severe and violent steering wheel oscillation after hitting bumps at highway speeds without warning. Multiple incidents beginning at 20,000 miles, steadily worsening with time. Requires emergency out of control stopping on interstate in order to regain control of vehicle--putting passengers and other vehicle operators in severe danger. Ford replaced steering stabilizer but problem continues without improvement. Dealer confirms issue.

I was driving my 2019 Ford F350 65-70 mph on the interstate when I hit a rough patch. The steering wheel began to shake violently. I started slowing and merging into the emergency lane. The steering wheel did not quit shaking until I slowed down to about 10 mph. The truck felt nearly out of control during the event. An internet search revealed this condition to be know as a "death wobble". Within a few days, I took the a dealer to be inspected. The dealer replaced the steering stabilizer. My truck had app 30k miles on it at the time. It had the factory equipped Goodyear Wrangler tires. The truck has no modifications to the factory suspension or steering components.

Driving at highway speed hit a bump on the freeway and truck started to shake violently and we had to immediately slow down and pull over on the side of the freeway.

While driving back from a dinner with family in Coeur d'Alene Idaho I was in I-90 heading west in my 2019 F-350 there was some construction and some bumps in the road I was going approximately 65 miles an hour and hit some of these bumps. My front end just started shaking extremely and I had to pull over to the edge of the Freeway and slow down I had no choice but to put my foot on the brake to help slow down. I almost thought I was going to bounce right off the edge of the road.

While driving on the interstate at approximately 60 mph, I hit a bump on a curved portion of the roadway, which resulted in severe wobbling of the steering wheel and leaving me unable to control the vehicle until I came almost to a stop. This occurred twice at the same location over the period of a week and once more and a different location after that.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the driver reported that the vehicle suddenly reduced speed and became undrivable. Upon inspection it was discovered that the rear passenger’s side dual axle shaft had sheared in half at the base of the axle housing causing the wheel to become loosened and unsecured from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was repaired by the mechanics at the business. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V688000 (Power Train). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The contact indicated that the same failure had occurred on three of the same vehicles included in the fleet of vehicles. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Employee was driving down a highway when he suddenly lost power to the rear wheel making the truck jerk to the left. Passenger side dual rear wheel axle shaft sheared in half at the base of the housing causing the rear wheels to come loose. No warnings on dash just loss of power.
