2015 FORD MUSTANG Complaints

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V331000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The contact stated while driving 80 MPH, the front driver’s and passenger’s side doors opened inadvertently. The contact slowed down the vehicle and was able to close the front driver’s side door. The driver then pulled over and closed the front passenger’s side door. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair however after the dealer inspected the latch date codes, the dealer informed the contact that the manufacturer did not approve the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the latch date codes were deemed safe in their system and no further action was required. The failure mileage was approximately 45,800.

AC stopped working, evaporator coil was leaking, it is located under dash so repair requires excessive labor charge. cost was $2500 for a $100 part. Online there are many reports of this deflective part. My car was out of warranty so I had to bear the entire price. this is not fair.

I was driving on Interstate-95 in Washington, DC going about 55 mph in heavy traffic. Without warning my car lost acceleration and the car almost immediately slowed to approximately 35 mph, despite my foot still being on the accelerator--pushing on the accelerator did nothing. Then after several seconds, the car sped up again, but when I reached around 40 mph, the car lost acceleration again for several seconds. It kept doing this over the course of my entire trip, which was about 5 miles. I had to pull in the shoulder lane driving with my hazards flashing. After I parked my car and turned it off, I noticed my brake lights were still on. I googled the issue, and the source of the problem is a faulty transluscent plastic/rubber brake switch stop pad (that is connected to the brake pedal and when the brake is released the brake switch stop pad pushes in the brakeswitch turning off the brake lights), which broke during my trip. I found the broken pieces on my floorboard (i took a photo of them and kept them). Because the car senses that the brakes are still being applied it cuts power to the accelerator. This was highly dangerous on the interstate and it broke with no warning. Fortunately, it didn't cause an accident. While reviewing the fix (Ford doesn't sell the replacement part; instead they want you to replace the entire brake pedal for about $500) on a Mustang Owner Forum, numerous people echoed the same problem with many having it occur while driving. The fix involves buying a $5-10 part from Dorman which is made for another vehicle.

The Aluminum cast Crossmember that supports the transmission is cracked and split in several places .Shifting and or jumping in or out of gear .The dealer wanted $800.00 dollars to replace a $132. part That is hard to find in the marketplace ,because of others buying these faulty parts up ! No warning signs except hard to shift , cracked part was found by Benson ford in Easley S.C. The car has less than 70,000 miles on it . No warnings whatsoever !

Cheap plastic disk between the brake pedal assembly and the plumber rod that should only control lights dried up and broke off. This issue has been reported many times and you have not handled it properly. Not only do the brake lights come on but the uphill traction control goes crazy and the vehicle begins to lose power without notice. This could result in an accident and death as the car could be on a highway and suddenly lose power. Ford doesn't offer a replacement part for this. Other car manufactures have a similar plastic part. Fords solution is to spend nearly $1000 for a > $10 item. This needs to be taken more seriously than some of your other recall items you report.

Fuel line. There is a sensor that comes on when you put fuel in the vehicle. I think it has to do with the vapor line from past Ford recalls on mustangs.

Brake light switch pad broke , So the car thinks the brakes are on so it goes into "limp mode" and it starts turning off assist modes.

The issue is the Brake Light switch stop pad on the brake pedal which is a rubber type of plug. At 70,000 miles the brake light switch stop pad cracked and fell into floor board (see pictures). When that happened, the RPMs dropped to idle speed and the car slowed down. After a few seconds, the car would pick up speed again only to repeat the event over and over again. I understand that when the brake light switch stop pad is missing and the plunger on the switch is fully out, the car thinks that you are applying the brakes. I was lucky, I was on a two lane road with no traffic, but I was headed to an inter-state with heavy traffic. Ford (nor does anyone else) does not sell just the rubber plug which fits on the brake pedal, but it will sell the complete brake pedal assembly. Not sure the reason that the brake pedal would require the hole that requires the rubber plug, but think that Ford should be responsible for the replacement or a better solution for the repair (Provide a replacement plug, not just the complete Brake pedal assembly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

Brake pedal pad failed, causing car to suddenly brake even though brakes were not being applied. Ford Dealership recommended replacing brake light switch assembly. Brake lights stayed on even after the car was turned off. Had to disconnect the battery to prevent drain.
