2015 GMC SIERRA 1500 Complaints

The contact owned a 2015 GMC Sierra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, another vehicle spontaneously switched lanes onto her lane, causing the contact to swerve out of the way and crash into the median; however, no airbags were deployed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The insurance company deemed the vehicle totaled. The contact injured her neck, back, and several other places, and she received medical attention. A police report was made. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that her vehicle had previously been repaired under an unknown airbag recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

Transmission was shuddering and slipping and then completely went out. Would not engage any of the gears. This happened while driving through the mountains without towing anything. My family and others on the mountain were at risk since the transmission was slipping out of gear and no safe place to pull over. It had to be towed to a dealer and they confirmed the transmission was toast and they replaced it, of course not under warranty. $800 tow bill and $6.893.98 to replace the transmission at a GM Dealer...Also, had to get a rental car ($318).

There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the push rods were bent, and the lifter had collapsed. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

A message indicating power steering failure was displayed. The contact stated that the steering wheel was extremely difficult to turn however, the contact was able to pull to the side of the road using physical strength to turn the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer where it was diagnosed, and the failure was linked to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V719000 (Steering). The vehicle was taken to a GMC dealer, who informed the contact that the recall had already been completed on the vehicle. The dealer determined that the power steering control module needed to be replaced; however, the part was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently while parking or while at a stop. The brake pedal failed to operate as needed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The engine power reduced message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the brake booster pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 66,476.

When I turn the steering wheel, the ac turns off, lights turn off, the computer screen turns off, steering wheel gets hard and does a jerking movement. The truck turns off too and then suddenly turns on. This can cause a death. If this happens in a highway or a street where speed is high this can easily cause a death.. fortunately this has happened going at 30 mph and no one close at the time and also at a drive through fast food restaurant. It has not been confirmed by the dealer but I will soon have to take it. The only light that comes up is the StabiliTrak.. but it only lights up when it happens and then it goes away.

Problem # 1At low speeds /parking I loose power that affects steering the radio and windows. I get a message on board stability warning message. Steering become hard and can’t control/turn the vehicle Problem #2 at low speeds /parking my brakes loose power I have to press brake really hard to stop truck.

Attempts to get the part replaced have been met with long delays in gets the parts necessary even though the dealer tells me they show plenty in their warehouse in another state. I first called on 3/29/23 and was told 1-8 weeks. I called again on 6/21/23 and was told they submitted the order again on 5/11/23 and would do so again today. I tried a second dealer in St. Louis and was told the same thing about expecting months of delays on these parts. This recall is from 2022 and if parts are available, why am I not able to get the repairs completed?

In several occasions my brake when approaching stop sign or light and I hit my brakes more than once it goes to the floor and it become difficult to stop without having to push very hard on the brake pedal. It does it almost every time.
