Dash flashed Steering assist reduced while I was driving and then I lost all power steering nearly crashing the vehicle. Upon bringing vehicle to a stop I turned off vehicle exited and looked under hood for anything obvious. Upon restarting the vehicle warning was gone and power steering returned. I was advised by GM that a recall for this problem is available for previous year but not mine. I am afraid to drive vehicle, worried the problem will occur again.

The contact owns a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while starting and driving the vehicle, the engine experienced rough idling with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a cylinder misfire and that the spark plugs needed to be replaced. The contact declined the repair, and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with codes: P050D, P2099, P219B, and P0300 for the fuel injector. The contact related the failure to Special Coverage Adjustment N182198000 (Engine Fuel Injector); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was then taken to Champion Chevrolet Buick GMC (502 S 1st St, La Grange, KY 40031) where it was confirmed that the VIN was not included in the Special Coverage Adjustment. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.

When in park and I shift the transmission into Reverse, the force engaging the gear bangs and shakes the vehicle. The transmission is not regulating the power. The vehicle is available for inspection. I took the vehicle in to the dealer service and they were able to reproduce it. They claim that there is a bulletin from GM motors and this is considered normal. The bang is hard and shakes the vehicle, definitely not normal. It started after 50k miles and the truck has 62k miles now. No one else inspected the vehicle and no warnings are indicated by the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the instrument panel went blank with white smoke coming from the vehicle. While approaching a stop light, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard; the contact used the parking brake to stop the vehicle. Once the vehicle came to a stop, the contact was unable to turn off the vehicle. The contact poured water over the engine as the heat melted a switch that connected from one battery to the other. The contact managed to restart the vehicle and resumed normal driving. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000. The contact stated that the failure mileage was at or around 157,000. The cause of the failure was the second battery's positive cable became shorted out.

Out of the blue I am getting constant trailer brake system alarms dinging at me. Even if I select dismiss the alarm keeps coming back. There seems to be no way of getting this to stop.

The torque converter jerks the truck and causes vibration. This does jerk the vehicle unsafely at times of stop lights. As I know this was a lawsuit at one point with GMC itself. It does nothing but get worse with pulling and jumping the truck going down the road.

For over a year now multiple times while I'm driving. My vehicle's power steering will jerk/shake very abruptly, dash lights, radio, a/c & heater flicker on & off, service stabilitrak, trailer brakes etc, will pop up. then once stopped and shut off the engine the battery will act like it is dead and I will have no power to the vehicle at all. I have read the recall report & over 1 million SUV/Pickup GM vehicles (Chevy/Cadillac) manufactured through October 2015 are affected with the same issues. My 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 manufacture date on the vehicle is October 2015. I was told my VIN # was not included with the recall therefore they can't do anything to help. Even though my vehicle is experiencing exactly the same problems as the vehicles that were recalled and fixed with no out of pocket expense I am basically screwed. I also have a video of my steering wheel jerking back & forth, dash lights flickering & the engine stalling. (All in the same video)

I was getting off the freeway making a slight left turn yield and from the no where the steering wheel by itself turned to the right side almost making me loose control of my truck, I was driving about 45 mph when the incident happened. Then a second time happened about two-three weeks later when I was making a left turn to stop by a gas station, I was making the turn driving about 5-10 mph. This is something very serious. If it happens when I’m in the freeway it could make me loose control of my truck and someone could get hurt.
