2022 GMC SIERRA 2500 Complaints

The Exhaust Pressure Differential Sensor Pipe (boost pipe) blew off while towing a heavy trailer uphill on a busy interstate. I had to cross 3 lanes of traffic to get as far as possible off the road. The truck was sent into limp mode and would barely crawl. Our lives were put at risk of being hit by the many tractor trailers traveling that highway, or another driver traveling at high speeds. The truck was eventually towed to the nearest GM dealer for service. The pipe was replaced, but the faulty one was not kept on hand. The repair was not covered by GM. The extended warranty covered the pipe repair only, with out of pocket still being over $400. There were no warning lights on the dash until after the pipe blew off and the truck was thrown into limp mode. This is a known problem with these diesel engines, for years, yet nothing has been done by GM to fix the problem. Owners are replacing with aftermarket parts because the factory parts won't hold up. This damaged the DPF and DEF system as a result. The replacement parts are listed in my owners manual under the 5 year/100000 mile powertrain warranty, yet the claim was denied by GM. There are forum after forum with these failures for the past 15 15 years or more, yet nothing has been done to fix the problem and owners are put at risk of injury or death. When the dealer replaced the part, it was disposed of so no inspection could be made by anyone else to determine if it was defective.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and pulling a 10,000 pounds trailer, the vehicle experienced an intermittent loss of trailer brakes. The message "Check Trailer Wiring" and another message pertaining to the trailer brake system were displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the Trailer Brake Power Module (TBPM) was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact related the failure to GM Customer Satisfaction Program Number: N232414840 (Intermittent Loss of Trailer Brakes). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance in adding the VIN to the Customer Satisfaction Program. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

Filled tank with diesel and truck wouldn’t turn back on. We were next to a jiffy lube and they were able to run a scan and it said there was a broken fuel module. There’s only around 60,000 miles on it, it’s 4 years old, and left my son and I stranded.

My 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD was previously repaired under GM safety recall N232426400 / NHTSA recall 24V060 for the power-unlatching tailgate switch, which can fail from water intrusion. The recall repair was completed and the recall now shows as closed. Recently, the same tailgate switch problem occurred again. The dealer diagnosed water intrusion/corrosion affecting the tailgate release switch circuit, including damage to the related wiring harness/connector. GMC customer assistance stated they could not assist because the recall is closed. I am reporting this as a possible failed or inadequate recall remedy. The same water-intrusion condition addressed by the recall appears to have recurred after the recall repair, and the vehicle now requires additional repair to the same tailgate release system. This raises concern that the recalled safety defect was not fully remedied and that other vehicles may experience repeat failures after the recall is marked complete.

The same thing that happenes to the grill mold in recall N242490120 happened to my vehicle with the hood vent ornament. For reference, the Part number is 84802205/85057002. I was driving on the highway to work and it flew off which caused it to scrape my hood and chip my windshield.

Was driving down the highway and was approaching a red light. As I was slowing down my transmission down shifted hard and my rear wheels briefly locked up and my truck went in to reduced power Took to dealership only to find out the valve body failed and my truck wasn't covered

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that the engine was making an abnormal rattling sound on cold starts. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the front muffler exhaust baffle was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the rattling sound could not be heard; however, the contact stated that the rattling sound had become louder, and other individuals were able to hear the rattling sound. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2022 GMC Sierra 2500. It was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 92,000, and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 98,325. The Carfax report was not available at the time of purchase. The mileage discrepancy was later identified through the vehicle manufacturer’s Mobile App.

I had taken our GMC Sierra 2500 with LT275/R20 Goodyear Wrangler tires into Henderson Chevrolet for maintenance and to have the tires checked. The technician stated that the front tires were showing tread separation. I was shocked because the tires only had around 20,000 miles. The truck is not used for towing and is kept in the garage away from the sun. I asked the technician to double check the rear tires for separation and he stated they were fine. A couple of weeks later, I was driving to California and there was a loud bang on the rear driver side. The truck indicated the the tire was losing pressure. I pulled over to the side of the busy road as soon as possible. The entire tread was missing form the tire and when it came off it damaged the wheel well and the rear bumper and taillight.There was a lot of traffic on the highway and not much shoulder it was a pretty scary and unsafe situation I but got the tire changed with the spare. About an hour later the passenger side tire blew up, there was way more damage on this side including bent exhaust and damage to the fender. I had to get roadside assistance to change the tire so I changed both rear tires so i could have a spare.When I took the car back to Henderson Chevrolet they told me this is a common problem they have had 10 in the last 6 months. Boulder Autobody said they had seen 7 in the last 6 months. Henderson Chevrolet sent both tires to Goodyear to be examined and they conveniently lost one of them and stated that the tires were not defective. Thank goodness no one was hurt, this could have easily killed someone.

After driving my truck, once I park and turn the truck off it will not shut down electronically due to an error on the dash display that reads “shift to park”. Sometimes I have to mess with the gear shifter when the truck is in park to get it to register that it is parked and shut down completely. It can take up to 15 minutes sometimes to shut down.
