2024 GMC YUKON- Tulsa, OK
Our Yukon was taken in for the recall. Dealer did the test and said it passed and used different oil. My wife and kids were driving to [XXX] from [XXX] yesterday. As they exited the highway, the car began acting weird. Then the car completely died. It was towed due to error code P0016. Dealer said they are going to put a new engine in. I saw online that cars with replacement engines were failing too? INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2024 GMC YUKON XL- Roanoke, VA
6/16 Vehicle issues while driving home from work. Rough idle, multiple check engine lights coming on, Multiple warnings display on dashboard. Vehicle in limp mode from work to home. 6/20 While driving in Roanoke rough idle began. Vehicle check engine light appeared, limp mode only lasted for less than 30 seconds before it went back to normal. 6/23 Vehicle issues began again while driving to work. Pulled into parking lot, turned vehicle off and restarted. Vehicle seemed back to normal. Made appointment through GMC App for first available on 6/29. Leaving work vehicle check engine lights came on again and went into limp mode. 26,764 miles. Drove straight over to Hart GMC (2 miles away) and dropped it off. 6/30 Picked up Vehicle at Hart GMC. Miss fire on cylinder #3. Replaced spark plug #3 and cleared all dtcs codes. 8/6 Oil Change with Consumption Test started 29,072 miles 8/28 Engine Oil Low-Add Oil alarm. Instructed by dealer to not tamper with Test. Must drive 2000 miles before returning vehicle to validate consumption test. 29,728 miles 8/30 Pulling into drive way rough idle began. Vehicle check engine light appeared, limp mode, multiple lights. Scanned with OBD2 scanner- P0303 code. Misfire cylinder 3. 8/31 Vehicle towed from home to Hart motors 29,860 miles. Scanned by service showing P0300 codes along with other codes. I have documented all events with this engine since owning. Concerned the engine would run out of oil before validating consumption test (2000 miles). Dealer told me to keep driving even if it says add oil. Engine historically 2 qts low when add oil warning flashes.

2024 GMC YUKON XL- Sarasota, FL
On August 20, 2026, while driving my 2024 GMC Yukon XL Denali equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine at approximately 70 mph on the interstate, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of motive power without adequate warning. The vehicle unexpectedly shifted into neutral and would no longer accelerate or maintain highway speed. This occurred in active interstate traffic and almost resulted in a serious accident as I attempted to maneuver the vehicle out of the flow of traffic. The engine would not restart, and the vehicle had to be towed to a GMC dealership. The GMC dealership subsequently diagnosed that the engine had locked up and determined that the engine requires complete replacement. This failure created an immediate and significant safety hazard for me, my family, and surrounding motorists. My vehicle is affected by the 6.2L engine recall, and I am extremely concerned about the safety and reliability of the proposed replacement engine. I have become aware of reports from other owners alleging failures involving replacement engines as well, including similar sudden losses of propulsion. I am concerned that replacing the engine may not adequately address the underlying safety risk if replacement engines are experiencing similar failures. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate not only the original engine failure, but also whether replacement engines used as a remedy are adequately correcting the defect. A sudden engine lockup and complete loss of propulsion at interstate speeds presents a serious risk of collision, injury, or death.

2024 GMC YUKON- Seffner, FL
Issues with the google voice, transmission issues, engine failure to start or restart. Reported same year vehicle was bought. Repeatedly. Dealership even with video evidence stated could not repeat issue and nothing wrong. My car then starts rattling in the engine and they do a full replacement had it for over three months. Now it’s leaking fluid and smoking. They try to send the consumer away and delay delay until the warranty is over. Unethical practices. They knew there was an issue with my engine as it was on the recall list but kept denying any issues until complete failure. Now less than 20 days after that repair the car is leaking and smoking.

Vehicle has 43k miles on it and a has a failed oil pump, already switched to the heavier oil and still have engine issue

2024 GMC YUKON XL- Middleville, MI
My vehicle "passed" the engine recall only to have the engine blow at 33,000 miles. My vehicle was at the dealership for 52 days most of the time was spent waiting for the new engine. Dealership was amazing, GMC however is the worst. My new engine has about 1,000 miles on it and it stutters occasionally when the auto start turns on.

My 2024 GMC Yukon Denali equipped with the 6.2L L87 V8 experienced an engine failure on July 4, 2026. Prior to the failure, there was no visible damage, warning, or other evidence that the engine was about to fail. I drove the vehicle to purchase fireworks and shut the vehicle off normally when I arrived. When I returned to the vehicle after shopping, the engine problem became apparent. There had been no noticeable indication of an engine failure before I turned the vehicle off. The vehicle was subsequently taken to a GM dealership, where the engine failure was confirmed and ultimately required replacement of the 6.2L L87 engine. The vehicle remained out of service from July 4, 2026, until it was returned to me on August 21, 2026. The original failed engine was in the possession of the servicing GM dealership I purchased the car from. Not even 8 months later of purchase the vehicle needed a 3rd engine (original, recalled engine, warranty engine). The lack of warning before the failure is a significant safety concern to me. The vehicle had been operating immediately before I parked it, and there were no apparent symptoms that would have alerted me that a major engine failure was imminent. Had the failure occurred while the vehicle was traveling at highway speed or in traffic, the sudden loss of engine operation could have created a dangerous situation. The failure was confirmed by the GM dealership and resulted in replacement of the L87 6.2L V8 engine. I am submitting this complaint to document the failure and because of continuing concerns regarding the L87 6.2L V8 and the effectiveness and long-term reliability of the recall remedy. I am still currently waiting for the repair work documentation for the new (assuming it was new) motor. I have attached attempts to talk to GM, app incidents, repair work being completed.

2024 GMC YUKON- Fort Wayne, IN
Hello, I own a 2024 GMC Yukon Denali with the 6.2L V8. Car currently has 35,000 miles on it. At about 30,000 miles we started to feel a very aggressive vibration in the passanger seat, as well as the 2nd row seats, and driver seat. We took the vehicle in for the recall on the engine where we were instructed to put 0W-40 oil in. Much higher vescocity. After we did this recall the vehicle has not stopped shaking. We went for another service visit in July where we were told " this is the engine pistons trying to conserve fuel, and are firing causing the vibration." I have worked in the auto industry for 12 years, this is not a normal vibration. This should also not be caused by an engine. We then took it in again where they then proceeded to replace fuel manifold on August 18th. The vehicle shakes a bit less but still has a aggressive shake to it. I do not believe this is normal and if it is the engine pistons firing or the crank shafts misfiring, this could cause the engine to have catistrophic failure. This shake happens at speeds anywhere from 18 MPH to 50 MPH. My concern is with my wife and kids in this vehicle as the daily driver and this engine fails.

2024 GMC YUKON- Lubbock, TX
Driving about 75 mph car shuttered and motor quit running had to pull off of the highway and get towed to dealership. Motor had to be replaced due to 1,2,6,7 rod bearings spun on the crankshaft. 34367 miles
