  • 2026 GMC SIERRA 2500
    - Brainard, MN

Aug 14th, 9:49 pm - Vehicle was placed in park and driver got out. A few seconds later the vehicle started moving forward under its own power towards the driver who was now infront of vehicle walking foward away from vehicle. Passenger hopped over the driver seat to press on brake pedal to stop vehicle. At same time, driver turned around and noticed vehicle moving towards him. Passenger was able to stop vehicle but not before it ran off the driveway and into and over a recreational firepit area. Driver was on opposite side of this. Driver got in to vehicle, verified transmission was now fully engaged in Park, and reversed the vehicle off firepit area. Damage to both vehicle, and firepit ring and landscaping area. Security footage later confirmed vehicle was placed in park, brake lights went out, and vehicle remained stationary for approximately 3 to 5 seconds before driver exited vehicle. It was when driver shut door that vehicle then moved, as if the Parking pin did not engage or failed to stay engaged. Owner traded vehicle in with another dealer soon after, due to other ongoing issues involving the steering and brake system that had not been resolved. Approximately 11,580 miles on vehicle at the time of incident. No personal injuries reported.

Warning lights; ESC, traction control; collision warning etc, all come on. Taken to GMC dealership and tell me its "left rear wheel sensor". Cost $900. After supposed repairs, warning lights still do not go off. Now the dealership is saying its the ABS and the whole thing needs to be replaced. $2100

  • 2019 GMC SIERRA 1500
    - Vienna, ME

2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate (6.2L L87 V8 Engine)Description of Safety Defect & Incident Chronology: XXX (49,801 miles): While idling in my driveway, the engine began ticking loudly, running roughly, and ultimately stalled. The vehicle was towed to Hight Chevrolet in [XXX]. The dealership stated they test-drove the vehicle twice while monitoring live data, could not duplicate the noise, and released the truck back to me.XXX (57,920 miles): The engine began ticking loudly again. I returned the vehicle to the dealership. Upon inspection, technicians found metal debris in both the oil filter and the oil pan. The dealership diagnosed a catastrophic bottom-end engine failure.Resolution: The original engine was replaced with a GM remanufactured crate engine, covered under the GM factory warranty.Safety Concern:Although my vehicle is a 2019 model, it suffered the exact same catastrophic bottom-end bearing failure currently being investigated by NHTSA for 2021–2026 GM 6.2L L87 engines. This defect poses an imminent safety hazard, as a sudden bottom-end failure can cause the engine to seize without warning, resulting in a complete loss of motive power and propulsion at highway speeds, drastically increasing the risk of a crash. Furthermore, despite GM's claims regarding limited production windows, this case proves the defect is present in earlier 2019 model years. Took car in to have it checked for recall on engine and have oil changed to new standards with WD40 was told the engine and car was fine “just use this new oil” A MONTH later was driving and engine would not shift come to find out our transmission was going out it was replaced thanks to our extended warranty (even tho it only had 98,000 miles on it) a week after a fuel pump was out and we had to pay to replace it. There were never check engine signs and no signs of the car having failure truly it ran great until the new oil.

I’m currently on my third motor as a result of the L87 engine loss. When I bought the vehicle, I was not aware that the engine had already been replaced however, due to hearing a tick, I brought my vehicle to the dealership for the recall and was told that this is not the original engine, but they had the paperwork for this engine as well. Nonetheless, the engine “passed” their inspection. They changed my oil and replaced my cap. Within six months, I threw a Rod. Not only did I have a horrible experience with the dealership, my new motor is also ticking.

My vehicle previously experienced engine problems severe enough that the engine was replaced. Despite the engine replacement, the vehicle is continuing to experience an engine misfire, and the check-engine light has been flashing. A flashing check-engine light and active misfire are a serious safety concern because the vehicle may experience rough running, reduced power, hesitation, or potential loss of power while driving. The fact that the misfire continues after an engine replacement raises concerns that the underlying problem was not resolved or that another component or system is malfunctioning. The exact cause of the current misfire is UNKNOWN at this time. The vehicle and/or affected components are available for inspection upon request.

Early this year the crankshaft seized while driving. The engine was promptly replaced and I carried on my way. Then 7k miles later, the replacement engine that GM sent also blew up and was a total replacement. Hopefully the third engine lasts longer.

1 - The Engine or something electrical, possibly the ECM, failed or malfunctioned, and yes, it is available for inspection. 2 - The vehicle lost power, reduced speed, was hard to steer, and I couldn't put the hazard lights on; this occurred twice while driving on the highway, once I was driving at approx 75 mph. The results could have been catastrophic not only to myself but to others on the road. These two events are not the only times the truck did this. 3 - No. 4 - No. I filed a claim with GM, but it has been approximately a month, and I've received no updates. 5 - No. Further: This event has occurred 6 times. I've taken it to the dealership three. They cannot duplicate the issue, so no repairs have been done. Apparently, approximately 100 codes come up, but they cannot diagnose the problem.
