GMC Complaints

My 2015 GMC CANYON had been running for approximately 10 minutes. I was on the highway driving home from the DFW airport doing 65mph. My wife was we me as we were driving home from a trip to visit our grandchildren. A message popped up on the display that said my power steering had failed, a chime also alerted me. It was immediately noticeable as I could barely turn the steering wheel. If I had been in a turn I may not have been able to control the truck and may have caused an accident. The truck has 94,000 miles on the odometer. Thank you.

The contact owns a . The contact stated that upon restarted the vehcile experienced harsh restarts and lurch forward. The contact indicated that the failure and become more frequent. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer was unable to duplicate the failure and no service was performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.. The failure mileage was 33,400.

The control arm bearing appears to have failed without warning causing loss of steering control. This occurred at low speed on a street in [XXX] last night near a gas station, so the driver was able to drive to a safe location easily without risk to life. Had the failure happened at speed a possibly fatal collision would have been likely. The vehicle has been used for the past 8 months to drive to work and has not been subject to any stress. It has not been modified. The tow truck driver said he has seen a number of other control arm failures recently, not necessarily in the same vehicle type. It may be due to bad pot holes this year in [XXX] , they are bigger and deeper than normal. This information is based on assessment by tow truck driver last night. Start engine light came on while driving. The truck did a dead stop in the middle of the road. Tried to restart but nothing. A tow truck was called and the truck was dropped off at the local GMC dealer. The next day the dealer called me and told me I need a new engine.39,000 miles

On March 14 2026 i was driving from [XXX] . To [XXX] to have my tires checked because i felt a strong vibration on my steering column and truck itself, it was getting worse so i took it to my mechanic who does my regular maintenance on truck. After inspecting tire ( [XXX] 55 R20) was called over and shown that my front passenger side tire had a flat spot, it looked deformed mechanic informed me that the tire had separated from radial. And i need to get another tire right away, since there was non in stock we did the next best thing we took the front passenger tire the affected tire put it in the back and put the rear good tire up front. The next day i was on my way to purchase the replacement tire when the tire blew out. I was on a heavily traffic road [XXX] . I managed to take control of truck doing about 40 mph at the time and drove it off the road to a safer spot to look at damage. Well the passenger rear tire witch was originally on the front that had the separated radial blew a chunk out of the inner sidewall. I put on the spare and went and replaced the tire with another goodyear new tire. On march 28 as i was coming home from [XXX] late at night the driver side rear tire blew as well again had to put on spare and next day took to local mechanics in [XXX] , and checked tire and again i was told that the tire separated from radial and that was the cause of blew out, they inspected all the tires at this point since this was the second tire from the same DOT set with less then 12000 miles that had separated. Well they found a third tire that had aldo separated and had a flat spot on driver side front tire, now there are 3 tires from the same set, coincidence, i dont think so i replaced the second and third tire. One the third day April 1, 2026 the passenger side front tire blew as well, now i have 4 tires that had radial separation with less then 12000 miles and less then a year old, in a mater of a month. And i need to get another tire right away, since there was non in stock we did the next best thing we took the front passenger tire the affected tire put it in the back and put the rear good tire up front. The next day i was on my way to purchase the replacement tire when the tire blew out. I was on a heavily traffic road [XXX] . We heard a knocking noise and took the truck to the nearest GM dealership. The engine had to be taken apart. The engine is a L87 6.2 liter V8. The GM dealership service department diagnosed camshaft damage that caused lifter failure. We have since been informed that GM has known about the failure of this engine for many years. In our case, we were fortunate that the engine did not fail when we were on the expressway. This is a huge safety issue. There were no warning lamps or messages from the vehicle, but we heard the knocking noise. We are facing a minimum of a 10,000 dollar repair and will not feel confident that this engine will not put our safety at risk in the future. We understand that the NHTSA has initiated an Engineering Analysis regarding this engine for the model years 2019 to 2021. (EA25007). We wanted you to have the information of another dangerous engine failure.

Paint is blistering above windshield along entire length and around sunroof. Also down along left and right side of windshield. Beginnings of blistering top rear quarter panels closer to roof.

I was driving at 65mph through a construction zone on my local freeway - through a construction zone. With cruise control on, my upper bezel portion of my grill detached. It slammed into my windshield and hit the semi behind me after bouncing off the road. Luckily, neither of us swerved drastically. However, with workers in the area, this could have been a catastrophic event. After contacting my local GM dealership, I was told "yeah, that just kind of happens from time to time". When relaying that information to the GM Customer service team, they told me to ask for a courtesy credit from the dealership as I was out of warranty on bumper to bumper. There were no prior issues with this part on my truck that I was aware of leading up to this event. It additionally caused damage to my windshield and roof.
