  • 2015 GMC ACADIA
    - Hinckley, OH

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at 25 MPH, the instrument panel went blank before the panel began to flash when it returned. The contact then stated that several various warning messages began to appear all of which were related to the vehicle's electrical features. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where a code reader found no defects with the vehicle. Close to a week after the initial failure, the vehicle failed to start after multiple attempts as previous failure returned. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it had yet to be serviced or diagnosed. Upon his own inspection and research regarding the vehicle, the contact linked the failure to the vehicle's BCM(Body Control Module). The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 177,000.

Purchase this Vehicle November 1st 2025 as a GM certified used vehicle. Had several issues with the camera system including the backup camera. Would go offline and not be usable for days. Vehicle went back to shop several times for this with no resolution. Now February 18th 2026 at approximately 630PM EST (after sunset) on the way into work traveling on the highway the engine lost power and engine shutdown. Vehicle shifted into neutral with the indication to press the start button in order to shift into Drive. This cause all of the lights to shutdown when it tried to start the engine. I was barely able to pull this over to the shoulder before I lost forward motion. Narrow shoulder. Tried to restart again with the same results. Call towing company. They attempted to jump start vehicle. Same results. All power shutdown. Truck was loaded onto flatbed and towed to dealership. Dealership states bad battery. Got authorization to replace battery from the dealer in which I purchased the truck. hey attempted to start and then it burned out the main fuse. They determined that the engine had seized and they were going to replace the engine. I looked up to find that GM had performed the engine oil replacement procedure in June of 2025. This vehicle is listed in the "recall" for defective L87 engines. Clearly changing the oil had no effect to remedy the issue. I have no faith that the new engine will not fail the same way this one did.

The diagnosis was very similar to the GMC 6.2L engines that have been recalled for safety and failure reasons however our vehicle was not included in the recall. The engine only had 75,924 miles and was maintained to the manufacturer's maintenance schedule. The cost to replace the engine was $11,309.87.

Driving on the highway and the top section of the grill (approx 4" x 50") broke loose and went over the cab of the truck. The piece didn't hit my truck or any other vehicle, but the driver behind me swerved to avoid it. All of the clips that hold the chrome piece to the vehicle are still attached to the body. I made contact with the local dealer's service dept. and was told my VIN was not in a recall for this issue. I contacted GM customer care and was told the recall hasn't been extended to my vehicle and that I would have to pay for the replacement. IF GM extends the recall to the other known issue model years I could be reimbursed. There seems to be numerous other complaints of this issue that aren't covered by GM.

  • 2017 GMC SIERRA 1500
    - ROCHESTER HILLS, MI

Dear Sir, I currently own a 2017 GMC Denali that had a potentially catastrophic failure with one of the alloy wheels that are on my vehicle. Mileage about 110,000 I recently went to have new tires installed on my vehicles when the tire shop manager came from the work area and said that he could not put a new tire on my one wheels. The reason the tire store could not put a tire on that wheel is because two of the spokes on the alloy wheel were broken. There were three spokes between the broken spokes. The are 12 spokes on the wheel and the two broken spokes were non adjoining. They were not next to each other. There were good spokes between the broken spokes. With a close inspection of the wheel there is no scuffing or impact damage to the wheel either on the outside of the wheel or the inside that would cause this failure. The spokes just cracked. The fact that the two broken spokes are not next to each other would seem to indicate that this was a manufacturing defect. I am writing to go on record of this failure of the alloy wheel on my truck. If someone would like to inspect the wheel, please contact me to arrange for a time to look at it. I have attached pictures of the wheel with the broken spokes. Regards, [XXX] You can see the cracked spokes at the 12:00 and 7:00 position on the wheel towards the center of the wheel.
