  • 2024 GMC ACADIA
    - San Antonio , TX

Since we bought the 2024 GMC Acadia in November 2024 when we would get the oil changes we have to dealership to check the brakes because the brakes were always squealing. They inspected and gave us a vehicle back chalking it up that the brakes are fine. they did a multiport inspection three different times and didn’t find any issues with the brakes. The last multipurpose inspection was done in September 13 2025. on December 8, 2025 I took ivehicle to another mechanic. I had to replace all four brake pads. The front brake pads were down to below 20% and the back brake pads were right at 50%. on January 7, 2026 I had to take the vehicle in to the dealership because another brake problem after a week of half. They found out that the electronic brake control module was faulty on the master cylinder. The dealership had to replace it.

The vehicle was running perfectly fine. We pulled into a service station to fill up the gas tank, and suddenly it wouldn’t start at all. We had no choice but to have it towed to McKenzie GMC in Milton, Florida. After several days of waiting, we were told we now “need another engine.” Yes—another engine. This is completely unacceptable. This same vehicle already had its engine replaced in 2025 under recall 25V274000. It passed the PICO test, and the oil was changed to the updated 0W-40 viscosity exactly as required. There is absolutely no reason a vehicle with a recently replaced, recall-compliant engine should be failing like this. Something is seriously wrong with this vehicle, and it needs to be addressed immediately. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

In 2024, while the vehicle was still under warranty, we brought it to our GM dealer due to an air suspension fault. The problem typically occurs in extreme cold weather, and following that visit, we did not experience further issues during the remainder of that winter as it was never that cold again. However, the following winter the same issue returned and was diagnosed yet again, and this year we are again experiencing the identical problem with the same diagnostic code which has been diagnosed by 2 dealers and a private mechanic in the last week. It has since become clear that the underlying issue was never properly repaired during the 2024 warranty visit. We recently learned that approximately 3.5 weeks after our 2024 service appointment, GM released a service bulletin outlining the correct repair procedure for this exact issue. We were not notified of this bulletin by the original servicing dealer. This information only came to our attention when we brought the vehicle to a GM dealer last week, where the issue was properly diagnosed and now they are refusing to fix it without us paying $4300 even though it was brought to their attention in 2024 while under warranty. A failed air suspension presents a safety concern, not merely a ride-comfort issue. When the system fails, the vehicle may sit unevenly or at an incorrect ride height, which can affect vehicle stability, steering response, braking geometry, and traction—particularly in cold weather and at highway speeds. Because the failure is intermittent and temperature-related, it is unpredictable and increases the risk of loss of control. The vehicle is not operating as designed when the air suspension is compromised. GM knows about this issue as they did indeed issue a bulletin that covers our vehicle and this was done when my car was still under warranty, but it was not brought to our attention that it existed until this year after the car's warranty was up. 2 seal kits, air springs and the struts!

Shift to park alert continues to come on when car is already shifted into park. Car will not shut off without pulling car back out of park and shifting back into park. Causing a delay in all electrical attached to power down, potentially draining the battery.

When making a slow turn in drive or reverse the park assist screen shows it’s not working. Then all screens in the car turn black and the steering locks while driving. Making it impossible to turn or move. This is happening while driving, while parking. Putting my safety and others at risk due to not being able to control the steering. Park assist failure screen pops up then all screens turn black. Car is still on just unable to move. I have not had it checked by a mechanic yet.

The contact owns a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500. While starting the vehicle, it was shaking violently, with reduced power. The vehicle was restarted and worked as designed. Upon research, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Action Number: PE25001 (Engine and Engine and Cooling). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined there was metal in the engine, and there was a misfire coming from cylinder #2. The mechanic recommended that the engine be replaced. There were loose wires from the ECM, and the failure halted after the mechanic secured the wires. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

The PCV valve froze which caused pressure to build up in the rear main seal to fail. Causing oil to leak out of the motor. Hence the motor won't hold oil.

Traveling at 70MPH the engine failed. There were no warning lights or alerts prior to the engine failing. No power at all after failure. Was able to coast to the shoulder of the busy highway without getting into an accident but was then left stranded as the engine would not restart. Upon inspection at GMC dealer I was informed there was a "catastrophic engine failure" and the entire engine would need to be replaced. Note this vehicle was subject a recall for similar engine failures and deemed not to be at risk after inspection by a GMC dealership.

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started and shifted into drive(D), the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle responded slowly. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle decelerated and stopped unintendedly. The "Parking Brake” warning light illuminated. The contact stated that once the vehicle had warmed up, the unintended stopping ceased. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent at first but had become a recurring failure. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the valve body needed to be replaced; however, the part to complete the repair was on a national back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
