GMC Complaints

The contact owns a 2018 GMC Terrain. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag and ABS warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Auto Zone to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed with air bag failure. The contact was informed that the air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact was informed that there were no open recalls on the VIN. In addition, the contact was informed that once a recall repair was completed, it would not be performed a second time free of charge. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,100.

Electronic thermostat fails. Which causes steering assistance reduced drive with care to illuminate. Temperature gauge drops to cold. Air conditioning no longer operates.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Terrain. The contact stated while driving approximately 5-10 MPH, the vehicle stopped independently, and the gear shifter failed to shift to neutral(N). A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it diagnosed and determined that the fuel pump power control module needed to be replaced. The fuel pump power control module was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 12,777.

The contact owns a 2021 GMC Yukon. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an unusual rumbling sound coming from the engine. In addition, the contact noticed that whenever the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that the failure had been ongoing for approximately one year or more. In addition, the contact stated that the failure was persistent and had occurred approximately ten times. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer nor an independent mechanic. The contact later received notification: NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The engine failed completely while driving. On the day of the incident, I started my 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4, and immediately upon cranking, the engine began knocking loudly. I shut the vehicle off right away to prevent further damage and called a wrecker service to have it towed to Marianna Chevrolet, GMC. No warning lights or messages prior to the incident. The weather was clear and dry, and the truck was parked on level ground at the time. There were no prior warning lights, leaks, or unusual noises before this event. The vehicle has been well-maintained, with oil changes performed regularly every 4,000 miles at a local auto shop (though receipts are not available). The brakes were replaced earlier in 2025. Marianna Chevrolet, GMC inspected the vehicle and estimated the repair cost at $12,700 due to what appears to be a major internal engine failure.

Driving in town going 20mph and the truck shut down not allowing for braking or gas and the steering locked up. Placed the vehicle in neutral, shut the truck off and turned it back. Was able to continue driving. Attempted to have the dealership we bought it from run a diagnostic and the battery was replaced but it continues to shut down at random times. Took the truck to a local auto shop after this happened again, another diagnostic was run, I am waiting the report to confirm what was done.

Back up camera When in reverse the backup camera screen is black or shows very little light making it unusable. Unable to see objects or persons behind vehicle. Despite cleaning camera. No visual damage noted. * It is available for inspection upon request. * Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? NO * Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? NO *Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? NO , first appeared over a year ago.

I do not have an official communication from the dealer who is servicing my vehicle. However, they have had my vehicle for almost 3 weeks and they tell me that the engine has failed and needs complete replacement. They said the engine lost compression and quit running, it now cranks and does not start. Although the engine has not been disassembled we believe the point fo failure to be in the rotating assembly of the bottom end of the engine.

The contact stated that the warning light turned off after approximately three miles of driving. The contact also stated that the vehicle experienced abnormal RPM fluctuations while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed; however, the diagnostic information was not provided to the contact. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 117,951.
