GMC Complaints

I just purchased a brand new 2025 Terrain. The entire windshield is defective. The glass is distorted and causing visual impairment. It is VERY unsafe. I have contacted the dealership multiple times and have not yet received a response.

The contact owns a 2018 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the infotainment system screen and radio inadvertently switched stations from AM to FM. On other occasions, while driving and using the GPS system, the screen went blank. The contact stated that on several occasions the screen was turned off, and on other occasions, the screen was turned off and on however, the failure was temporally fixed. The vehicle was not diagnosed of repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon. The contact received notice of NHTSA ID Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, he and his wife observed noises emanating from the engine compartment. On another occasion while driving and coming to a stop, the vehicle stalled, and a "transmission unable to shift" message appeared. The gear selector was placed in park (P), and the vehicle was restarted, after which it drove normally. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but it was not diagnosed due the manufacturer only allowing certain vehicle to be repaired at this time, even with the failures that had transpired, and no repairs were made at that time. The contact stated that while driving home in pitch darkness at approximately 30 MPH on a windy road, the vehicle stalled. While attempting to steer the vehicle off the road, it remained halfway in the street and nearly caused over 15 accidents. One near-accident involved a motorcyclist who came around a turn, narrowly missed the vehicle, fell into the street, and was almost hit by oncoming traffic. No police reports were filed as the police could not assist at that time. The contact and her daughter did not sustain injuries but were severely traumatized. It was uncertain if the motorcyclist sustained injuries. The contact stated that when the vehicle was being towed, it would not go into neutral, and the contact observed the frame cracking while being hauled on the tow truck. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle had failed to start on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with low voltage and electrical failures. The dealer replaced the two batteries; however, the failure recurred. The dealer then replaced one of the batteries; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact requested buyback assistance, but no assistance was provided. A case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

LT295/60 R20. The tread on the tire separated and a 1"x2" chunk of it fell off in the middle of the tread. Other smaller pieces of tread also fell off. Both front tires have subsequently been replaced. Smaller chunks are now missing from rear tires.

Transmission shifting issues. The transmission will shift very slowly (engine revs high and vehicle lurches) when driving the truck each morning. I reported the issue to the dealership within 0ne month of purchasing the truck in 2019 and again in 2024. The dealership stated there is nothing wrong with the transmission. The transmission is now starting to slip at low/moderate speeds when accelerating. The vehicle has less than 50,000 miles.

On or around August 15th I was in traffic and my 2016 GMC TERRAIN just shut off in the middle off traffic almost causing the car behind me to hit me is the rear. I got it started and then slowed down for a car that was turning in frount of me and it shut off again almost causing another car to rear end me. There where no warning light no warning at all just shut off I called a flat bed and it was taken to Clintscales Chevrolet in Belton Sc. They have informed me that it is a problem with the timing chain causing me to need a new motor. I have done research and it shows Gm has had problems with this problem in numerous engines in this year. This is so dangerous it puts life's in danger by shutting of in traffic with no warning at all.

Hose from power steering pump came off causing truck to loose power steering and brakes. Fortunately we had just exited the interstate and were in a parking lot when this occurred. Truck was towed 90 miles to dealer who confirmed that hose was incorrectly installed by factory

I was driving down the highway, and my wife and I decided to stop at Costco to get protein bars and gas for the drive home. We also had a [XXX] , [XXX] old, and [XXX] in the car. As we were approaching the end of the exit ramp at approximately 30 miles per hour, the engine jerked the car two or three times then died. When it died, I lost power steering and the car slammed to a stop. The car also displayed an alert about my tow breaking system. I tried to restart it, and smoke began rising from my engine bay. I stopped trying to restart, and got my family onto the hill beside the exit while waiting for a tow. The tech at the GMC dealer stated that the engine had seized on me while driving. The cam shaft can rotate a small amount one way before getting blocked, and likewise the other way. Tech believes that the bearing is responsible, but will not be doing a tear down until September 2. #1April 2024 Engine locked at 42k miles on freeway 70+mph engines basically turns off and in full traffic was barely able to make it off way to the first exit. Yes it was reported since it was under warranty they replaced the engine. No engine was not inspected by anyone ourshould of dealership service dept. no warnings what so ever. #2 August 2025 again engine locked up on freeway at 75+ miles per hour again you only have enough time to try to make it to the shoulder, this could have caused accident both times. car is currently at shop and they say it has a recall so they will replace engine, again. I bought this bran new zero miles so I could have a safe car and this car is not safe at all. The only sign I had was it was starting to lag when turning on I took in on 8/21/2025 and they came back and said it was baterry issue I paid $380 took it home and that same day in the evening is when the egine locked. No warnings or signs. Please help me out.
