50000 miles. Getting a P1098 code for a cooling issue. Truck goes into limp mode without warning and will overheat.

The passenger side outside rear view mirror does not provide for a clear view on the passenger side of the vehicle. The adjustments on the mirror cannot be set to reduce or eliminate a blind spot on the vehicle. The mirror is not like a normal mirror from other vehicles. I have almost hit several vehicles due to the lack of clear view with the mirror. To give an idea of the blind spot, a vehicle can be seen in the rear view mirror but not seen in the side view mirror or it gives a false distance of where the vehicle is on side mirror. There is no verbiage on the side view mirror of objects appear closer like other mirrors do.

July 31, 2025 Our 2019 Gmc Acadia would not shut off in a parking lot, I was 45 minutes from home. A message on display says shift to park. This is a safety concern as the vehicle might not be fully secured in park, the vehicle won't shut off and will drain your battery. There is an ongoing class action lawsuit related to this issue, alleging that GM has been aware of the problem for some time but has not provided a satisfactory fix according to Lemon Law Auto Fraud. I called the gm dealer and they quoted me $500 to fix this issue.

After placing the vehicle in park and try to turn it off, I receive a message saying “Shift to Park”. The engine is off and in park, but the vehicle doesn’t recognize it as being in park so all of the electrical stays on. I started complaining about this to the dealerships before my warranty was up but they kept giving me the run around avoiding the fix and now that the warranty is expired they want to help me for a ridiculous fee. This issue happens randomly at least one day a week.

The contact owns 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while reversing and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle stalled. The contact shifted to park(P), turned off and restarted the vehicle, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where the starter was replaced, and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE25001 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 84,000.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Coolant Control Valve has stopped working. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? While driving the truck can overheat very quickly which can lead to dangerous temperatures as well as cause me to make an emergency stop on the highway to allow the truck to cool down. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, I have discussed with a dealership in person and independent mechanic who have confirmed the issue and confirmed it is a very common issue. So common that the only replacement part for the problem is backordered. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No, they confirmed the issue without inspecting the vehicle because of how common it happens. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no warnings before the issue. The issue happened and then the check engine light turned on as well as a "reduced engine power" message.

We were receiving a message stating steering reduction. Turns out the thermostat sticks open and the electronic control module reset was a temporary fix. We had the thermostat replaced and the issue hasn’t happened again. Steering issues should be a safety issue and be considered for recall. Your thoughts please.

The contact owns a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The dealer informed the contact that there was no anticipated date for the recall repair parts availability. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.

Shift to park. Car will not register as in park. Have previously had issue fixed and has started again. Was told this is a common reoccurance and would likely happen again over time even if I pay to have it fixed again. Yesterday I spent 45 minutes trying to get the car to turn off. If it says shift to park the car will not shut completely down and there is nothing that can be done. I spoke with gmc for 30 min and was finally told to unhook the battery because they have no way to make it shut off without going to a dealership which was closed at the time.

GMC has been aware of this problem since May 2025. They still do not have a remedy. This vehicle has not been operated for 41 days, since the recall states "The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components in these vehicles may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure. If the engine fails during vehicle operation, the vehicle will lose propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash." Letter sent to GMC, but this site is not allowing me to download it. Safety recall N252494000
