First engine blown 31,904 miles, Lifter failure. Replaced with re-manufactured engine. Second engine failure at 68,000 miles, Piston rod failure. Piston blew thru engine block and engine bay caught on fire.

I have had intermittent issue with a message to shift the car to park when I shut it off. It was in park. If I wiggled the shifter it would often correct. That went on for a few years on and off. Lately it was more persistent. I brought it into the dealer and they replaced a harness and a switch. Seems that a harness would not go bad unless it had a manufacturer defect. I have seen a lot of reports on this issue on online blog sites. Seems to be a common problem. The problem with this defect is that when it is sin that mode, you cannot safely secure the vehicle and warning bells keep ringing. So the vehicle cannot be left like that and expect it to be secure.

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The contact owns a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pushed the vehicle out of the garage. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the spun bearing had failed. The contact was advised that the engine needed to be replaced. The engine was replaced. The contact stated that recently there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired after the most recent failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

Crankshaft bearing failed, leading to engine failure at 65MPH on highway. No warning.

While exiting the highway and transitioning into a turn lane, my 2024 GMC Sierra AT4 (with 12,887 miles) suddenly and completely shut down without any prior warning. All vehicle systems—including electrical—failed simultaneously. This included the dashboard, steering assistance, and emergency lights, which significantly compromised my safety. I was unable to alert surrounding drivers or move the vehicle out of the traffic lane. There were multiple cars behind me, and I was placed in an extremely unsafe situation due to the sudden loss of control and inability to signal or restart the vehicle. I immediately contacted emergency services, and a police officer arrived approximately 10 minutes later to assist. Roadside assistance later pulled diagnostic code P0016 from the truck’s computer. I have since learned that this code corresponds to a known engine timing defect and is the subject of a recent GMC recall issued just days prior to the incident. The failure occurred without any warning lights, messages, or symptoms beforehand. The vehicle is now with a GMC dealer and is available for inspection upon request. To my knowledge, the issue has not yet been independently confirmed, but I believe it is directly connected to the recalled component.

Engine issues at 35000 37000and failure at 65000 miles V8 6.2 L engine. Cans and lifters replaced at $6100 GM refused to cover. Car immediately traded in for 2024 Silverado same occurrence on exit ramp 15000 miles engine replaced this year under warranty. Would like recall extended warranty to 2019 or before and be reimbursed for $6100 at a minimum

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and preparing to complete a left turn, there was an abnormal pop coming from underneath the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the driveshaft had fractured. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that several days later the contact heard a loud pop, prompting the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the sound. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,200.

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH, the vehicle started to lose motive power and then stalled. The contact stated that there was a black cloud of smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the rod bearings had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.
