GMC Complaints

The transmission is jerking and sometimes it will not shift enough to get out of others ways. Severe slippage in the transmission I have taken the truck to the shop 3 times for the same issue. Now they tell me I need a new transmission.

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Acadia The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V334000 (Air Bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

On April 23rd, while traveling, I began hearing a loud, metal on metal knock. My truck began to lose all pulling power. I had no engine warnings, no check engine lights or any other indicator of engine trouble. I pulled to the side of the road and exited the vehicle. It was then I realized it was my engine making the noise. I have since had it towed to the dealer where it sits while I wait to hear back from the service department a final diagnosis. I was told this was most likely a rod or bearing. On Friday April 25, I was told of the recall. I was told I would probably need a new engine but they haven't been instructed on what the next step would be from GM.

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while attempting to shift into park(P), the vehicle failed to turn off, with the "Shift to Park" message displayed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that after several attempts, the vehicle eventually turned off. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V516000 (POWER TRAIN). The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low oil warning light illuminated even though an oil change had been performed within 1,000 miles. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the piston O-rings, resulting in damages to the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE25001 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 79,000.

Upper grille came off and fractured windshield while going down the highway it is a non serviceable part by GM which I believe is strategic seeing that they’ve had issues with earlier models of the the truck you have to buy an entire replacement grille for one issue that shouldn’t be happening was never able to locate part, I assume plastic grille clips dry rotted noticed the part lifted a bit before the entire part failed thought someone was trying to break into my truck . The wind while going down the highway caused them to fail, I’ve seen multiple GMC sierras with the same grille issue, I uploaded before and after pictures of how the truck looked before and after pictures .

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle into the dealer for regular service, the dealer found that the engine oil level was extremely low, resulting in damages to the engine. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was informed that the piston O-rings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,000.

I had purchased a 2021 GMC Sierra equipped with the 6.2 liter motor in October of 2021. Within two weeks, my engine was experiencing problems. There was no service lights on the dash, and my truck suddenly shut off while on a busy road. I was able to coast to the side of the road, however it was a driving lane with no shoulder which made the situation dangerous. I was able to restart the engine after some time, and eventually get the vehicle off of the roadway, thankfully I got out of the driving lane without being struck by another vehicle. The truck had approximatley 1000 miles at this time and was brand new. I ended up needing a complete engine replacement due to failed crank bearings and connecting rods. I was told it was a crankshaft issue. After the complete motor replacement, sometime during the next year I was experiencing oil burning issues. On this second motor, a GM dealer had to completley rebuild the top end of the motor and install new piston rings. This is now a total of two motor failues in under 30,000 miles.

Truck was traveling through Atlanta when engine shut off and was not responsive. Was able to get truck off the interstate (I285 ramp to I75). Truck would not turn over. Pushed the ONstar button, they stated they couldn't diagnose the truck. They called a wrecker and got truck to a local GMC dealer(Capitol GMC). Truck was approx. 90 mile away from home. Dealer called on Monday 4/21 and stated that the engine was locked up and would need a new engine.

Hello, I wish to report this injury / incident with the failure of the power running boards on my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Limited. There are no warning Lamps on the vehicle. The truck is regularly serviced and inspected. The truck recently had a multi-point inspection at the dealer. The power running boards started to come out after I opened my door, as I stepped down, the steps retracted and went back in causing me to fall hard on the ground and smash my knees. Driver and passenger sides are now acting up, even with the truck parked and locked, passenger side wants to go in and out on its own and sometimes extends to the tire. As I researched this problem, I found out that others have had similar issues with the same vehicles that have these power running boards. I removed the fuse now to prevent further injuries.
