The contact owns a 2021 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a fractured rear cap catalyst converter cap. The contact was informed that the catalyst converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the original catalyst converter was replaced by the same dealer less than two years ago under warranty. In addition, the contact stated the front catalyst converter was replaced by the same dealer five weeks ago. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline and report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

Engine light came on, went to the dealership where I bought the truck less then two weeks prior. The Chevy dealership ran diagnostic test on it. They said it was the Engine Coolant Control Valve. This is a common problem with the 3.0 Duramax diesel engine. I belong to a group on Facebook with the same truck as mine. they are all having the same issue. We are waiting for a recall. the part is on back order and cost $300 just for the part plus labor. I bought the extended warranty and they said it did not cover this part.

The contact owns a 2021 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V060000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) and the main exterior touchpad switch assembly was replaced. The contact stated that after the recall repair the second exterior touchpad switch assembly suddenly short circuited and caused the trunk to open unintendedly. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who stated that that only one exterior touchpad switch assembly was replaced, despite the remedy stating that the exterior touchpad switch assemblies would be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 55,700.

The chrome trim that is on the dashboard has a glare that reflects into the rear-view outside mirrors making hard to see obstructions the problem is all weather conditions sunny or cloudy

The contact owns a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle failed to properly respond. There were no warning lights illuminated; however, the message ESC was displayed. The contact stated that the brakes, steering, and a message to check the trailer brakes was also displayed. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and the brake pedal was depressed several times however, the brakes failed to respond, and the vehicle was difficult to control. The vehicle was towed by AAA and then towed to a dealer however, the vehicle was not yet diagnosed. The contact stated that the brakes were inoperable, and the control center was destabilized. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

GM needs to look at the excessive failures on their Engine Coolant Control Valve on the 3.0 Duramax Diesel engines. Mine failed at under 35K miles and it looks to be weeks or months before a part is available.

The contact owns a 2016 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unexpectedly downshifted with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 250,000.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that while researching the history of the vehicle it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 166,521 and while researching online, it was discovered that the mileage was 207,759.

Was driving on the highway going 70 mph truck suddenly shut off, was stranded on side of the road heavy traffic.Towed truck to dealership and engine was confirmed seized. No warnings messages or symptoms prior.

I was about 45 miles or so from home on [XXX]. As I left a business my truck went about 100 feet and the engine stopped working . No warning. Truck was towed to a GM dealer in Wilmington Il. It was determined the cause was due to the wiring from the engine ECM that was run over the top of a very sharp plastic mounting bracket for the ECM. The wire had been cut because of the way this was done at the factory. In addition the fuel pump also needed to be replaced . At the time of this, the truck had 39,140 miles on it. I had no warning this was about to happen. No check engine light went on , etc. Most of my route home is on the highway . Had this not happened on a side street , I would have been involved in an accident. I ended up paying $865.42 plus towing for this repair I should not be paying for. The people at the GM dealer told me this has been happening on numerous GM pick up trucks. This is NOT a maintenance issue or an isolated case.
