Engine exploded. No warning just quit running while cruise control set, just had a thump and started to slow down as engine quit running. Caused a problem as road had no shoulder. Had to be towed to dealer for engine replacement.

We were traveling not once, but twice at a high rate of speed (75/80mph the legal limit) the vehicle gave one message: Service power steering next message: reduced acceleration. The check engine light turned on, the truck itself jerked and we almost lost control of the vehicle (both times) on the highway. We were thankfully able to pull over and pull to a complete stop. The vehicle was still on, it still ran but I saw an autozone close by both times and received a code for the check engine light. The dashboard both times lit up like a Christmas tree on both occasions before spazzing out. We have taken the truck twice to a nearby dealership and they were able to service and “fix” the problem however they said that the first time, and here we are a second time. The dealerships we took the truck to are aware of all the codes (2 pages worth the first time) but we never received paperwork on what was fixed. The second time we are now going to pick up and hopefully receive paperwork on what was completed. My spouse was driving and myself and my daughter were in the vehicle when the jerking happened with the steering wheel. The vehicle is not safe how can I we be driving at the legal limit and lose control of our vehicle. We were right next to an 18 wheeler with a trailer and multiple vehicles on the road each time. The GMC dealerships are aware they have been working to fix the problem however again this is the second time it happened. The messages occurred both times. Service power steering and reduced acceleration check engine light and also no traction control. The contact owns a 2010 GMC Sierra. The contact stated that while driving at 15 MPH going into an intersection, another vehicle going at approximately 5 MPH, crossed in front of the contact. There were no warning lights illuminated. As a result, the vehicle impacted the other driver on the driver-side front and back door, where it came to a stop. None of the air bags deployed. The contact suffered injuries to his lower back, legs, and a bump on the head with a bruise. The contact's aunt suffered injuries to her back and hip. The contact's uncle's back suffered injuries to his right or left arm; the contact was unsure. The contact and his family member had to have physical therapy due to injuries suffered by a chiropractor. It was unknown if the other passengers in the other vehicle sustained any injuries. There was no property damage. A police report was filed however, the contact does not remember the police report information. The vehicle was towed to a body shop and was repaired. The contact stated he then received an unknown NHTSA notification for the air bags. The contact stated that after the accident sensors on the vehicle malfunctioned, and it has the air bag warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where recall repairs were completed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.

Had water leaking into cab of truck. First incident they stated it was a rear window seal and it was "repaired" under warranty. Second incident I was advised it was body panel separation where the cab roof and side body seam was leaking. It was repaired by sealing with "body seam sealer." I later read these repairs should have been welded. This was after the warranty expired and I had to pay for it. I then read on the Silverado/Sierra forum this repair should have been a weld not just "glued" is this a safety issue?

While driving on the freeway at about 70mph, the lights on the dash lit up and the message "Push Button to Start" showed up. At that point the vehicle started decreasing in speed. When the accelerator was depressed, nothing happened. Luckily the freeway was not crowded and the vehicle was able to coast the side of the road where it came to a stop. Pushing the start button did nothing except bring up the dash information. Engine would not start or even try to start. AAA was called and the car was towed to a dealership. The dealer has since determined that the engine is locked up. The oil had metal in it and an engine replacement will be needed. They have put in an order for a new engine. There were no warning lights or CELs of any kind. The engine just stopped working without any warning. The 6.2l engine on the GM line of SUVs and trucks seems to be known for doing this. If this were a busy time of day or there was more traffic it may not have been so easy to pull to the side of the road. It is only a matter of time before these engine issues result in an injury or worse, a fatality. The solution to replace a faulty engine with another engine that has not been redesigned or fixed is an unsafe and risky solution.

On 1/3/25 the engine in my 2022 GMC Yukon XL Denali started making knocking noise while driving and then it happened again when turning on the engine. The check engine light came on, so I had the vehicle towed to the nearest GM dealership. When the dealership drained the oil they found metal shavings in the oil. The vehicle had roughly 44,000 miles on it at the time. This put my family and young children at risk as they were in the vehicle when this happened.

While my husband was driving on the NJ Turnpike at 65 mph, his truck just shut off!! . This was very dangerous, he had to try to get over from the left lane, all the way to the shoulder and park the truck. How has this not been taken care of yet? This needs to be looked into, he could have been in an accident. GMC is aware of this problem but has not recalled these trucks. Please make this known to the public, this is very dangerous!! To add insult to injury, we now are told that we have to pay to replace the engine and the truck is less than 2 years old. How is that right? The warranty is out (60k miles warranty) because my husbands drives a lot of highway miles (80k on truck) to and from work so they say it will cost us $9,000 dollars to replace. Since we still have payments on our truck, we have no choice but to get it repaired. Knowing this is an issue and it should be recalled, this is wrong! I am concerned this will happen again, if they replace it with the same engine. Please help!

Truck will not fully shut off when turned off will say shift to park for 5/10 minutes after it is turned off finally drained my. 6 month old batterie

While approaching a red light, my 2022 GMC yukon just shut off leaving us unable to start it or even shift it to neutral to move the vehicle. This posed danger with oncoming traffic, so my family and I got out of the vehicle while awaiting a tow. We had to get the car towed and it was determined to have complete engine failure due to a rod bearing issue. One hour prior to it failing we had a check engine light come on. No other noises or warnings prior. The car is now at the dealership awaiting a new motor since still being under warranty. The motors are on backorder so its unclear how long this will take.

When shifting into Park the car still states to "shift into park" on the dash and will not fully shut off. i still need to take the car into the dealer for service to fix. This seems to be an issue.
