My 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X with 25,000 miles equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine, has experienced engine issues and total failure. Dave Sinclair a GM dealer in St. Louis Missouri indicated that bearing failure and lower lifter defects led to engine seizure, engine failure and block damage. This resulting in the need for a new/ replacement engine. I brought my GMC into Dave Sinclair service center on 2-11-2025 due to engine knocking and loss of power, then on [XXX] experienced complete engine failure and total breakdown on [XXX] resulting in traffic risks and issues. No warning lamps or messages. I routinely have the vehicle maintained at Dave Sinclair per their recommend mileage/time. As of 4-18-2025 I've not receive a replacement engine. Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to register the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 119,000, and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 128,000.

Engine had already had a full replacement within the first 35,000 miles. Driving down the road at 55 MPH and engine stops completely. Have to coast into a neighborhood. Luckily I was able to get out of the road. Pulled over and turn the truck off. Tried to start it and it never would turn over. Came back an hour later to see if it just needed turn off for a bit and restarted. Tried to start it and it started right up. Drove it around the block and then decided to drive to an auto store to test the battery. Before I could get to the store the truck shut off again while driving in the middle of the busiest road in town during rush hour traffic. Had it towed to the dealership and they said I need an engine replacement. This 6.2 motor is completely unreliable and a hazard to anyone driving it. No warning lights, no indication it was going to fail. I keep up with all my maintenance. I drive under control and at the speed limit and I don't tow anything.

Multiple issues...I bought the vehicle in Oct. 2023 1. BRAND NEW.... First day I brought the vehicle home there was a whining sound coming from the transmission. The reaction carrier assembly had to be replaced along with all other components. The transmission had to be completely removed from the vehicle and repaired. 2. In May of 2024 I had to have the lifters replaced on one side of the motor. 3. Right now it's in the shop with a blown motor. Yes there's only about 43,000 miles on it and the motor is blown and has to be fully replaced.

Second engine failure in 8 months. 1st with 97k miles and last after 15k on a brand new 6.2L engine.

Had the car since 2021. Recently started shaking while driving over 45 mph. Took the car in gmc dealership where they told me it’s an engine issue and need a brand new engine. How would I need an engine having the car for 4 years? And there is no recall?

The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the driver's side tail pipe flange bolts connecting the tail pipe and the muffler snapped, causing the tail pipe to hang down. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact had gone underneath the vehicle and saw that the muffler was disconnected from the tail pipe and that the exhaust bolts had snapped. The dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled to have the vehicle repaired; however, the vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 107,105.

The evening of Tuesday [XXX] driving from College Station, TX to Pasadena TX my GMC 2023 GMC Yukon starting making a clicking noise but no warning lights. For about an hour the noise persisted louder and softer and the check engine light would flash 3 times then stop, for a while then flash again. I did notice that when applying gas I didn't get the normal increase in acceleration but I couldn't tell if it was a power issue or a transmission issue. I was traveling about 60mph on a freeway thankfully in the right lane the vehicle suddenly shut off with no warning. I had no power, brakes did work and I could steer and I was able to make it to the area between the main lanes of the freeway and the lane of an onramp. Once stopped I attempted to restart the vehicle and nothing happened. We were stuck. Onstar was contacted and a tow to a dealership was arranged. A sheriff deputy stationed his vehicle behind us to provide protection until the tow truck arrived. The vehicle is now at a GCM dealer and I have been told the engine has locked up and needs a complete replacement. I have no other information in those regards. There is a long back order for new engines and the estimate is at 4 weeks. I did see the check engine light flash 3 times and then go off for a while then start again, but we were no where close to home and it was somewhat late at night. I also had coworkers in the vehicle taking them back to our office. At this point this is as much as I know but thankfully i was already in the right lane or this might have been a much more difficult situation. The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. There were no warning lights illuminated; however, the message to shift to neutral and press the start button was displayed. The contact parked and turned off the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was then pushed by another vehicle to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine had seized. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to pay a portion of the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 82,346.

Total loss of power while in motion on highway going 70 when first happened, got video of problem for shop while going lower speeds. Truck will loose all power the dash will turn off and then turn back on sometimes the engine will cut out completely.
