On [XXX] I took a trip with family through Ohio from Pennsylvania. While truck was in adaptive cruise control on highway, phantom braking occurred where truck slowed down from 70mph to about 60mph 5 times. No objects or vehicles in front of truck or around truck during the braking. The weather was mostly clear overcast at times with no rain or snow. Concerned if vehicles were behind me during the breaking causing an accident. It was abrupt completely out of the blue when it happened. Took truck into service on 1/8/25 for oil change and braking issue, dealership states there’s no service bulletin for issue. I have not used adaptive cruise control since. Contacted General Motors to have the Recall software patch installed, appoint was set, vehicle was dropped off and now they are telling me there is nothing they can do, that the recall is not available. The software update is available, and is being installed on other vehicles. This is a life safety issue as the rear wheels can lock up at any time which could cause a vehicle accident involving the vehicle under recall as well any vehicles on the road around this vehicle when it happens. General Motors should be taking care of this asap instead of waiting. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle until they feel like they installing it.

On December 26th 2024, I was travelling 5 mph or less while pulling into a parking space at a restaurant. As I let the steering wheel return to center, my hand hit the Resume button on the left side of the steering wheel and the vehicle immediately began to accelerate. I was able to step on the brake to prevent the vehicle from hitting the wall of the restaurant. The next day on December 27th, 2024, i was able to duplicate the problem. I had set the cruise at 55 mph before I came to a stop at a traffic light. I released the brake and pressed the Resume button and the vehicle immediately accelerated from a dead stop. I've been an automotive mechanic for over 30 years and I've never seen this happen before. It's my understanding that vehicles wouldn't engage cruise control unless the speed was over 35 mph.
