  • 2023 GMC ACADIA
    - Grand Rapids, MI

Today is Aug. 24, 2024. On [XXX], as my wife and I were preparing to leave on a vacation trip, our leased 2023 GMC Acadia would not move out of Low Gears moving forward. I soon discovered that it also would not shift into Reverse. When I took the vehicle to the GMC dealership near my home in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the service advisor told me that the Check Engine light was on. The dealer has had the car since the date of this occurrence, on [XXX], giving me a smaller car as a loaner. My service advisor told me that he was able to get the car into Reverse. When I have called, he tells me they are trying to identify the problem. I see on the Internet that this model of vehicle has had multiple "transmission issues" and that there has been a Recall due to the transmission. I have not been alerted to a Recall. Yesterday, on Aug. 23, I received an Onstar Diagnostics Report saying there is a "diagnostics alert" requiring "immediate attention." I leased this vehicle in October 2023 from Todd Wenzel Buick GMC, where the vehicle now is located in the Service Department. Purchased vehicle 8/3/2024 and on way home experienced headlights were flickering. The problem continued and is so bad approaching vehicles will flash their bright headlights at my truck. At a 4 way stop other vehicles think I’m flashing them to go. This flickering makes it impossible to drive safely at night. It’s not only a distraction to me but other drivers as well. I brought the vehicle back to the GMC dealer and was told they were aware of the problem and have no solution to correct it. This is an unsafe vehicle to drive at night and is a distraction to other drivers. The only response from GM is they are aware of the problem.

Since new headlights have flicker. Took to dealership, they stated that this is a known problem with the 2024 headlights and they have no repair and gave the truck back. NO DATE OF REPAIR PROMISED OR IMPLIED. The headlights are not just an immediate danger on for driver in truck but on coming traffic. I have been pulled over for "flashing" a police officer, flip off from other drivers that think I am flashing them. Please help the entire 2024 canyon population as this is a common problem.

    - Madison, WI

While driving the vehicle it just shut off for no reason which created a safety hazard! We were then forced to have it towed to a nearby repair shop, because we did not want to take the chance to start the vehicle and have the same thing happen again. The repair shop did their diagnosis and informed us it was a broken timing chain but couldn’t tell us if any other damage was done to the motor, without completely tearing it down. The decision was made to wait and it remains sitting at the repair shop.

Headlights frequently flickering. Flickering varies from 30 seconds to 5 minutes in between. Very random and unpredictable. Service department at the dealership was able to replicate the issue. They found a bulletin, PIT6203 that said to replace the headlights, so they ordered new ones. After three weeks I called the dealer and they said GM cancelled the order because replacing the headlights did not resolve the issue. Headlights flickering has caused other drivers to flash their lights at me. Concerned that other drivers may see my lights flicker and assume I’m giving them to go ahead causing them to pull in front of me causing an accident. Additionally there is a concern my lights completely going out while driving.

  • 2016 GMC CANYON
    - Melissa, TX

I was driving 70 MPH on the highway when I received a warning on my dash that stated "service power steering, drive with care" and a second warning that stated "service stabilitrak". I immediately felt the steering wheel lock up and lost all power steering. My safety as well as others was put in risk as I was unable to maneuver the vehicle especially at the high rate of speed. Prior to this incident there had been no warning or other issues that could have signaled a failure. The problem was duplicated at the dealership and a code was given.

  • 2024 GMC SIERRA 2500
    - Wellington, FL

First date was 04/23/2024 my truck went into limp mode with an alert reading engine and transmission control module problem. Brought it in and they reset the sensors. Shortly after the alert warning goes off again and I turn the engine off and start it back up. It cleared the alert, I brought it back in on 06/15/2024. They reset sensor and fixed a recall on tailgate. I picked up truck, drove it for 2 months and TCM warning came up and threw truck into limp mode while pulling a 2 horse trailer. It turned a 3 hr drive into a 6 hr drive. I brought back to dealer on 8/19/2024 they had it for 4 days and they notified me that this is an on going problem. It is a transmission solenoid valve stuck open and they ordered the part and told me it could be months before the part gets here due to the ongoing backorder from all the other trucks that have the same problem. I use this truck for work and leisure to pull my boat and 2 horse trailer and now I have a vehicle payment to make and no vehicle to use. I cannot use it to work or anything else because it is at the dealer for an unspecified amount of time. I have read online that this is a major problem with this truck and GMC as well as the dealerships know about this problem and they still sold it to me. There are so many complaints online about this GMC 2500 AT4 truck problem that GMC should stop selling this truck.
