Tailgate randomly opened while in park. This is a problem for multiple reasons. When hauling a travel trailer when you put the truck in park the tailgate falls into the jack denting the tailgate and scratching the paint. On some trailers it would be possible for the tailgate to fall onto the jack switches causing the jack to go down unexpectedly. The only way to get the trailer off is not put the truck in Park which isn’t safe at all! The truck rolls in neutral if the parking brake isn’t on. You should be able to put the truck in park and not worry about the tailgate. I called GM a few months ago when this first happened and then it stopped until it rained this weekend while camping. I told them at the time I didn’t want it falling when I started hauling the camper. They said at the time that a dealer would have to look at it and did say there isn’t a recall on this truck like on the HD trucks so is essence I basically have to hope it does it while at the dealership so they will believe me as my word doesn’t mean anything. In my case after the switch is dry it doesn’t do it. Now I have video recording as it is memorial day and pretty hard to get it into the dealer when they are closed just to have it with fine there.

Electrical glitches happen at both, low speeds and while on the roadway. My steering wheel tightens up and I get a message on the dashboard “Stabilitrak” and another one “assisted steering reduced, drive with care”. My vehicle even shut off on me after pulling in to a parking space after turning steering wheel completely to one side

2021 GMC YUKON- Lockwood, NY
Twice in a five day span vehicle stalled out, acting like it is not getting fuel. Each time it took several minutes of trying to restart and getting below fuel tank to give it a couple knocks to get it to start. Both times there was atleast a half tank of gas. Each time the car was running well when it suddenly slowed down on its own, the first time I was on a busy street resulting in the need for a tow and I had my grand baby with me. The second time it was an isolated road and surprisingly I had cell service to call for assistance. The tow truck driver told me he thought it was the fuel pump. I looked up my vin but it isn’t listed as one of the affected vehicles in the GMC Yukon recall, however it certainly seems like it is. I had no warning of any type with each incident, the car simply acted as if it ran out of gas. I have an appointment with a local garage. Additionally when this happens the vehicle does not let me shut it off. The engine isn’t running but I can’t power down the electronics system.

2019 GMC ACADIA- Buffalo , MO
My vehicle didn't shift into park all the way or the ADAS didn't register it. I would have to hit it quite hard with my palm to make it register. This happened for 3 months straight and finally stopped as sudden as it started. I tried to report it to GMC and was told there wasn't such an issue.

2019 GMC YUKON XL- Kalkaska, MI
GM vehicles manufactured between 2015 – 2019 equipped with GM’s 8-speed transmission are equipped with a defective transmission design of GM’s Hydra-Matic 8L90 transmission or Hydra-Matic 8L45 transmission, which causes vehicles to suddenly lurch forward, shudder, and experience significant delays in acceleration. GM not only knew about this pervasive issue but developed a fix for it in 2018 – namely a transmission flush it calls Mod1a. However, GM made the business decision in 2019 to forgo recalling all impacted vehicles (approximately 2 million) to receive this flush, which would have cost GM about $305 per vehicle for a total $592 million, and instead decided to limit the flush to only unsold Cadillacs and trucks in certain states where it expected customers to complain within their warranty. Furthermore, GM never alerted existing customers of the issue or the fix and only addressed the issue if the customer was under warranty and complained about the shudder. GM marketed and sold these 8-speed automatic transmission vehicles as having “world-class performance,” lightning-fast and smooth shifting, along with improved fuel efficiency, and instead sold defective vehicles.” These conditions make it difficult to safely merge into traffic or back out of a garage/driveway. Even more troubling, the transmission defects cause the vehicle to delay downshifting and decelerating when the brakes are depressed. The affected vehicles include Chevrolet Silverado (2015-2019); Chevrolet Colorado (2017-2019); the Chevrolet Corvette (2015-2019); the Chevrolet Camaro (2016-2019); the Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV (2015-2019); the Cadillac ATS, ATS-V, CTS, CT6, and CTS-V (2016-2019); the GMC Sierra, Yukon, and Yukon XL, and Yukon Denali XL (2015-2019); and the GMC Canyon (2017-2019).

2024 GMC TERRAIN- Tulsa, OK
I was leaving work when my car had trouble accelerating from stop. The engine revved, but the gear would not engage. It happened several more times after I stopped at a light or slowed to get on the highway. It would take a minute or so to engage, and then I could drive the car, but it made it dangerous when trying to merge on to the highway or to make any turns in to traffic. It then happened two more times as I slowed to make turns until my engine light came on as I was turning on to my street. When I finally made it to my house and put it in reverse to back into my driveway, the car wouldn't move at all. I took it to the GMC dealership because it is still under warranty. The next day when I called, they told me a piston shot through the transmission housing which caused a leak of transmission fluid. There is a GM Customer Satisfaction Program release for 2024 GMC Terrains and Arcadias that all have a defect in the transmission housing, which is causing a leak of transmission fluid. I had noticed that, whenever I slowed to make a turn anywhere prior to the engine light coming on, there was some hesitation when trying to accelerate, but I thought it was the design of the transmission and engine.
