  • 2016 GMC TERRAIN
    - Wapwallopen, PA

The contact owns a 2016 GMC Terrain. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the timing chain had failed, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 104,000. The contact was instructed to take it and have it diagnosed by the dealership he bought it from so I spent more money to have the garage take it on their roll back and drop it off at the dealership. The email stated I needed an engine with a $9000 estimate.

  • 2014 GMC YUKON
    - West Milford,, NJ

Rear Lower control mounts completely rusted out allowing the rear to move back and the driveshaft to come out of the transmission. Fortunately, this happened 1 block from home at a stop sign, if it occurred on a highway, it would have caused a major accident and likely injuries. Complete frame is rusted to the point of failure, heard from others that this has happened to other makes of GM products, Tahoe, Chevy pickup trucks. They likely all share the same frame.

I have been experiencing ongoing issues with the transmission of the vehicle I purchased in 2018. Despite it being a brand new vehicle with only 10,000 miles, I have had to bring it back to the dealer multiple times for transmission-related problems. We have tried changing the transmission fluid periodically to address the issues with shifting and shuddering, but the problem has persisted throughout my ownership.

  • 2012 GMC ACADIA
    - Natrona heights, PA

I noticed shuddering while driving my car and when I took it to my mechanic upon test driving and inspecting it he realized the torque converter is not strong enough for the size of the car. He informed me driving it with the improper size will cause it to shudder and accelerate or not accelerate correctly while driving and cause slipping while shifting gears. Those issue have been happening the entire time I've had it and if the car slips and goes too fast or slips and loses power it is a danger to me and the other cars on the road. There were no codes or warning indicators while this is happening.

A few years ago I was driving home and both headlights of our GMC Acadia went out at the same time. I drove home, in the country, in total darkness. We had them replaced by the garage, which was very, very expensive due to extreme difficulty accessing the headlights for this model. Since then, we have had to replace them two more times which we did ourselves due to the cost. We have owned this car since it's been brand new and have always had issues with seeing in the dark. For the last several years, we have had teen drivers driving this car. My son is worried so we recently we had it in the shop to adjust the headlights. They actually made them worse, which we didn't think could happen. They said they had their best mechanic on it but because they were doing it during their office hours, all daylight they never could see it at night. We had to get it readjusted back to where it was just to see again but back to still no good. I started researching to see if others are having similar problems and it does look like there are many complaints about loose wires in the headlights & fuse box, or maybe something related to the computer? Some other years may have had a recall for this same problem. I really hope someone like you could investigate this. My husband is a retired state trooper and ready to get rid of this beautiful car just because the headlights!! We live in the country and our son is worried he will get in an accident or hit someone walking down the road at night because he can't see. A mother and son shouldn't have to stress about headlights/seeing at night/crashes when we have a nice car!! How do both headlights need replaced 3 times on the same car?? We are trying to see if they make LED lights for this model but were told no. Any advice to have GMC help us with this before something happens? I would feel terrible if we could prevent something but just selling it and passing the problem on doesn't seem the answer to me. Thank you

  • 2017 GMC SIERRA 1500
    - Olathe, KS

The incident occurred on [XXX]. My vehicle has 54,571 miles on it. The power brake assist function failed. I was backing into a parking space at a local fast food chain and experienced near brake failure. I had to stand, nearly full body weight pressure, on the brake pedal to get my truck to stop at very slow speed. I, again, backed a short distance of a couple of feet at the most and experienced the same issue when I tried to stop. I placed the vehicle in PARK and turned the engine and ignition key off, thinking the system possibly needed to reset. I started the truck and drove forward, very slowly, to another parking space and applied the brakes. I experienced near total brake failure again. I had my truck into Brogden GMC in Olathe, Kansas on [XXX], for general maintenance and a “brake pressure recall.” I had experienced a slight brake pressure issue on a couple of occasions prior to the recall. After the recall service was performed I did not experience a braking concern for some time. I did experience “soft braking” a couple of times after the recall was performed and attributed it worn brakes. On [XXX], at 50,596 miles, I upgraded my brakes by installing a Power Stop Z36 brake kit with slotted rotors and ceramic pads. I have not had a repeated experience of soft braking or brake failure until the [XXX] incident that I am currently reporting. It appears to me that the earlier recall did not completely address the brake failure issue with my 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 pick-up. Shifter shifts to park but park will not engage. The vehicle chimes a warning that the vehicle is not in park. This was replaced by a GMC dealership under warranty in 2019. The problem has now came back. One of the parts ladies has the same year vehicle and replaced her in 2019 and just had to replace her again last month. The vehicle is out of warranty now and the dealership has not looked at the vehicle yet because my daughter drives it but she’s in college 5 hours away. There is no warnings both times this has happened.

The info system starts to change screens and jump around. We had it on navigate it locked the screen. You couldn't touch anything then. It started messing with the controls on the -Changing it from the speedometer to music and again would not allow you to touch anything calibrated or anything along those lines. After googling it, several vehicles are having the same problem. All around 50000 miles, our vehicle has about 80000 miles.
