2023 HONDA CIVIC Complaints

I have a christmas tree of lights on my dashboard, I cant use my cruise control or lane assist features. I took my car to a Honda dealership to have a diagnostic done and found that the EPB on the left rear brake was bad. I changed it out and had the computer reset to find that the car is still having issues and now I'm being told to change out the ABS wheel speed sensor that connects to the EPB. When looking online this is a commonly known issue with the 2022 and 2023 Civic sport touring and Honda is aware of this and are trying to get out of having to fix it. This is a huge concern for me because I'm currently living in [XXX] right now for work and have to park on an incline and have been told that at any point the parking brake can give out and my car can take off. This is a huge safety issue that could severely hurt someone, Honda needs to take responsibility for their poor build and fix it before someone gets seriously injured. For some of us not parking on a hill isn't an option. Please please please help us get this issue resolved and make them take responsibility of their poor design. Thank You! Report: Peeling white pearl paint on my Honda civic. The car is 3 years old and already on the hood peeling off. I-Car certified body shop looked at the car and immediately said factory defect upon testing. They have told me no primer for paint to adhere to... will force me to repaint entire hood and front bumper. Honda has unjustifiably denied warranty coverage even with paper work proof from that shop (breach of warranty legally) though the car is under 36k miles. Will mention this is my second Honda suffering peeling paint after new. Previous civic was a 2020 with paint peeling off mirrors, roof, and handles. Will mention my white color is listed in a lawsuit for this exact defect. Platinum white pearl paint code - 2023 Hatchback civic. Why this is a serious problem? Rust concerns. Can cause structural issues if peeling is not addressed. It is a costly issue, not to mention severely damaging to car value. Will not be buying another Honda after this one due to similar defects. Feel like Honda is not being honest to people, and are deliberately concealing a defect at this point. I personally am angry, and justifiably so. Bought this car from Allen Honda in College Station as far as where with 26k miles new and was denied help. If Honda sees this complaint my message is simple. I've had enough, and will take my money elsewhere. Going to fix this myself with a professional who has seen this before so it never happens again.

During a controlled low-speed autocross event (~55 mph entry), I applied the brake pedal firmly to decelerate for an upcoming turn. The vehicle failed to decelerate at anywhere near its rated capability. Despite full, sustained pedal application, the car would not slow adequately, departed the course, and struck a barrier, resulting in a total loss. No injuries occurred. This happened on smooth, dry pavement where 100+ other vehicles braked normally. The failed system appears to be the electronic brake control (ABS/VSA) and/or its input signaling. Event Data Recorder (EDR) data was professionally extracted and shows: accelerator at 0% for ~3.5 seconds before impact (ruling out pedal misapplication); ABS logged ACTIVE while stability control was "not engaged"; and peak deceleration of only ~0.67 g with a momentary 0.00 g dropout, versus this model's documented ~0.9–1.0 g capability. Notably, the service-brake switch intermittently read OFF while ABS was simultaneously active — a signal inconsistency, since ABS modulates driver-applied pressure. This indicates a possible brake-switch/signal-integrity or ABS/VSA control anomaly that reduced or withheld commanded braking. Safety risk: complete loss of expected stopping power at speed. Had this occurred on a public road with a pedestrian, crossing traffic, or a stopped vehicle ahead, it could have caused serious injury or death. The vehicle was under the 3-year/36,000-mile warranty with a stock, unmodified brake system. Prior symptom: on the immediately preceding run, dashcam footage shows an abnormal brake hop/oscillation, which may have been an early sign of the same fault. The vehicle, EDR data, and synchronized dashcam footage are preserved and available for inspection. The manufacturer extracted the EDR but has not yet performed a root-cause teardown. No dealer, police, or insurance inspection has occurred. Root cause: UNKNOWN pending modulator interrogation.

The front camera is inoperative. None of the safety features like automatic emergency braking are working. Dealer inspected and said needs a new camera which they can order.

The contact owns a 2023 Honda Civic Si. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed on the same day the vehicle was purchased from the dealer, the contact noticed a strong oil odor inside the vehicle. The contact parked the vehicle and noticed oil leaking onto the ground and throughout the undercarriage. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that a technician had forgotten to install the oil drain plug; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

Following a drivetrain repair at Gary Yeomans Honda, the vehicle was returned to me in an unsafe driving condition. Specifically, the technician left unsecured heavy metal tools (a pry bar and screwdriver) loose in the engine bay, failed to torque a structural fastener, and rendered the rear brake light completely non-functional while incorrectly marking it as operational on the inspection sheet. Additionally, the inspection sheet indicated a red-flag warning to 'inspect transmission for leaks' that was categorized as a mistake upon return.

During a collision on July 7, the airbag initiated but did not deploy. The car is available for inspection upon request. The safety of the driver was put at risk because the airbag did not deploy when intiated. The driver is not injured, but the car cannot be driven due to the airbag posing a risk to the driver. No one has inspected the vehicle. A call was made to Honda Headquarters on Friday, July 10 to report the critical safety and restraint system failure. The car was functioning properly before the accident, there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The airbag deployment warning was lit after the accident. And there is a systems warning that appears on the dashboard as well when the vehicle is turned on.

I respectfully request that the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles investigate Rick Case Honda for a repair I believe was performed negligently and the dealership's refusal to accept responsibility. On December 2, 2025, Rick Case Honda performed a cylinder head replacement on my 2023 Honda Civic before selling it at auction. I later purchased the vehicle on March 16, 2026, from Newton Nissan South, which had acquired it through the auction. Several months later, the engine developed an oil leak. Newton Nissan South diagnosed the leak at the front crankshaft seal using UV dye and referred me to Honda of Murfreesboro for warranty repair. During disassembly, Honda of Murfreesboro discovered a broken timing chain tensioner retaining bolt inside the engine. I met with the Service Director and a Honda North America Field Technical Specialist, who showed me the failed parts, including the broken bolt, broken tensioner, wear marks on the timing cover, and grooves in the engine block consistent with prolonged movement before the bolt failed. I was advised that this bolt requires only 7-9 ft-lbs of torque and that improper installation can cause delayed failure. Honda of Murfreesboro advised that the last repair involving removal of this component was Rick Case Honda's December 2, 2025 repair. Since then, no repairs have been performed in that area of the engine, only routine maintenance and diagnosis of the oil leak. Rick Case Honda has denied responsibility based primarily on the passage of time and changes in ownership, despite being the last dealership to perform this engine repair. I respectfully request that your office investigate whether Rick Case Honda failed to perform the repair according to Honda specifications and improperly refused responsibility for the resulting engine damage. I am seeking repair of my vehicle and any other relief deemed appropriate.

steering feels sticky & i have to apply force just to keep the steering wheel centered when traveling at a high rate of speed as it feels as if the steering wheel is stuck causing me to over correct my steering. when driving through a curve, my steering wheel gets stuck and i can let go of the wheel and it will remain in place. this happens every single time i drive. i have taken my car to the dealership when the recall came out and it was "fixed" temporarily however the issue has since returned. ive informed honda and they state it's my alignment.

The headgasket failed prematurely at 76,000 miles causing coolant to begin leaking out of the vehicle. The safety of myself and others is put at risk because a head gasket blowing caused the car to lose power on the way home from work which has caused me to have to slow down and not be able to start again. This causes other vehicles to have to break or go around me on the highway. The car is a 2023 Honda Civic. This premature head gasket failure is a known issue. The warnings appeared at 5PM when I was leaving work as soon as I started the car. Every light in the car went off. The vehicle was brought to the Honda Dealership in Lawrence, KS. They showed that the head gasket blew. The Vehicle is available for inspection upon request at the Honda Dealership in Lawrence, Kansas.
