2024 HONDA CR-V- Afton, VA
The sunroof of my CR-V spontaneously exploded. I was driving on a two lane road and was not near an underpass. There were no vehicles directly in front of me. No objects were found inside the vehicle after the glass shattered. The sunroof made a popping sound and then the glass shattered. The glass blew into the car and onto myself and my passenger. I was able to slowly pull over the vehicle onto a side road. Neither my passenger, nor I, were injured by the glass. This incident could have impacted not only our safety, with the glass coming directly into the car, but could have affected the safety of any oncoming traffic if I had not controlled the vehicle. The glass could have also affected any vehicles directly behind us. I was not on a highway, but if I was, my speed would have been greater and the impact potentially more severe. I had the vehicle towed to the Honda dealer. Honda has replaced the sunroof. The Honda dealer that the vehicle was taken to has not had any other complaints about spontaneously exploding sunroofs.

On [XXX] and [XXX], I was driving in the right lane in a construction zone on [XXX] in Detroit, MI when my 2024 CR-V slammed on the breaks while flashing the forward collision “break” warning on my dash. There were no cars at least 500 yards in front of me and, luckily, no one behind me. This happened by itself and no cruise control was engaged at the time. I have had this car since October 2023 and this is the first time this has happened. This was a sunny morning with temps in the low 30s. No rain and no snow. I have yet to be able to reproduce this issue and it’s unlikely that I could, since this happened under normal driving conditions. I have also not had the car inspected yet, but I will when I have the oil changed in a few weeks. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2024 HONDA CR-V- Jefferson City, MO
I am filing a complaint about the horn on this Honda CRV model. Honda, for some reason, changed the horn system to a mono note horn that is so weak it is difficult for other motorists and pedestrians to hear. The Honda dealer told me that it is supposed to sound like that and it is not defective. This weak single note horn is used in 2023 and 2024 Honda CRVs. It is referred to by fellow CRV owners on forums as a "clown car" horn. It makes a very weak "toot" and in traffic, no one seems to hear it. I feel this is a safety concern and therefore, I am reporting it to NHTSA.

Driver's side outside mirror has a complete horizontal crack without any visible sign of impact. This crack creates a "hall of mirrors" effect that impairs and obstructs my ability to see cars approaching from behind.

The driver seatbelt mechanism when clipped is shaped in such a way that it presses on the driver hip joint causing nerve damage, pain, numbness in the pain and back. Because of the seatbelt mechanism shape and placement, seat adjustments cannot be made sufficient to alleviate the pain without impairing the driver’s ability to see over the steering wheel and/or reach the pedals.

On Nov. 15, 2023, this vehicle had an episode of unintended acceleration as I was pulling into our garage. This resulted in the front end of the car crashing into material that was stored against a garage wall. I contacted the dealership immediately, and the car was towed to them. They stated that no computer error codes were found. A Honda certified repair center was recommended.. The car was towed to this repair center. It cost approximately $18,000 to repair the car and took 10 weeks. I also contacted American Honda to report the issue. I was told that I should call again after the repairs were finished and that additional testing would be done. I did call Honda after the repairs were done but did not hear back from them. I drove the car from the end of January 2024 until November 2024. At that time a second episode of unintended acceleration occurred on 11-14-2024, also while I was pulling into my garage. This caused damage to the right front end of the car and to the garage wall. I feel that this car is not safe to drive. I am concerned about a recurrence of unintended acceleration putting myself and others at risk. I have elected not to have the damage from the second accident repaired since I will not be driving this car again. I contacted American Honda again after the second incident. I provided them with documentation of the damage to the car along with insurance claims and repair bills. The case is now in the mediation department at American Honda. I am waiting to hear back from them. Fortunately, I was not physically injured during either accident. The vehicle is available for inspection. The answer to the other questions is no.
