2025 HONDA CRF1100- Chula Vista, CA
I own a 2025 Honda Africa Twin 1100 DCT with approximately 7,300 miles. The rear brake pads became completely worn down to the metal pad-wear indicator clips. According to maintenance personnel at MotorWorld in El Cajon, CA, the root cause was the rear brake caliper failing to retract to its original position after braking. This caused the pads to remain pressed against the rotor while riding, continuously wearing down the pads and rotor. The pads were eventually ground down to the clips, causing severe metal-on-metal contact, grinding, and extremely loud brake squealing. The issue occurred approximately 1.5 weeks ago. There were no warning lights, warning messages, or electronic warnings indicating excessive brake wear or a potentially dangerous condition. This created a significant safety hazard and resulted in multiple near-miss situations. The motorcycle’s braking performance was severely affected, and my braking distance increased by approximately three times the normal distance. The motorcycle was inspected and repaired by MotorWorld in El Cajon, CA. Separately, the maintenance manager at Del Amo Motorsports in Chula Vista, CA, stated that it is “very rare that rear brakes go out before the front, ESPECIALLY at 7,300 miles.” I can provide photographs, dealership documentation, and the removed brake components for inspection. The original dealership also reported the issue to Honda. I believe this is a serious safety concern because the rear brake caliper failed to retract properly, causing severe premature brake and rotor wear without warning. The resulting loss of braking performance substantially increased stopping distance and created multiple near misses. A similar unexpected failure could significantly increase the risk of a crash, serious injury, or death.

2025 HONDA CRF1100- Tequesta, FL
The contact owns a 2025 Honda CRF1100 Motorcycle. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V583000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted, but the motorcycle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the horn, turn signals, and the high and low beam headlights were inoperable. The failure mileage was 6,000.
