2022 HYUNDAI ELANTRA Complaints

While driving on the freeway at 65MPH, my car suddenly displayed a "Check Hybrid System , Stop Safely" warning. The vehicle rapidly decelerated to 20MPH and would not respond to acceleration, despite pressing the pedal. This created a dangerous situation for my family, as we were forced to pull over abruptly on the side of the freeway. I had to reset the battery system before the car would restart. Alarmingly, this issue happened twice on same day on [XXX]. I have since contacted the dealership and informed about the problem. The dealership (Larry Miller Hyundai Peoria - 85382) took my car to address the issue on Feb 28th Feb 2025 and performed a HCU software update and informed me that there was a recall and assured me that the problem shouldn't happen again. However on [XXX], the same problem resurfaced. While stopped at a signal, the car once again displayed "Check Hybrid System , stop Safely" and became unresponsive to acceleration. I had to pull over and reset the battery system to get the car moving again. This recurring issue is not only frustrating but becoming increasingly dangerous. I now drive with constant anxiety, unsure when or where the car might suddenly stop again. This ongoing safety risk is unacceptable, especially a supposed fix was applied. Cluster screen was black. Lasted for 30 minutes the initial time. Happened again, lasted for 3 days before turning back on. No turn signal sound when using turn signals. No speedometer or any of the main screen shows. No blind spot indicator lights or sounds either. No engine lights or any other lights visible before this occures. Safety was absolutely at risk. Couldn't even tell the speed I was going .

I had the recall completed for my Fuel Pump. The fuel pump is still not functioning properly as sometimes it does still struggle to start as sometimes it will turn over and take 5-7 seconds to start the car.

The display screen goes out and displays a black screen not enabling the display of the GPS system

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated while her daughter was driving 63 MPH, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the message that the vehicle was in neutral was displayed. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and waited for a tow truck to arrive on the scene. The contact stated that a Police Officer showed up on the scene because the vehicle was blocking the right side of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.

Driving on interstate at 70mph. Multiple, five or six, warnings pop up in rapid succession mostly dealing with the safety features such as distance to car in front, adaptive speed control, lane keeping. The last one was hybrid system - safely stop. The car then immediately lost all acceleration power leaving us coasting. This all happened within a few seconds. Terrifying. Luckily we had space to get over quickly. 30 miles sooner we would have been in downtown Jacksonville with no place to maneuver. Extremely dangerous. A few seconds warning then nothing. Turned the vehicle off as soon as we stopped and car was completely dead, no electrical power to anything, including flashers. Not sure how you can’t have flashers on a hybrid. Basically no warning to no power at highway speeds and then no flashers. Something is seriously wrong with this.

FAULTY REARVIEW CAMERA My 2022 Hyundai Elantra sedan rearview camera fails to display clear image or displays no image when shift gear is in reverse position. 2021 and 2022 Hyundai Elantra sedan models were recalled - Recall #271. I need my vehicle repaired but have been told by Hyundai Corporate that my vehicle is not eligible. That is why I am filing this complaint.

My car has 62,000 miles on it just about three weeks ago. The air conditioner evaporator went out now the car is making a bunch of noise and it’s blowing very hot air. Car should not be having this issue with less miles is this. I took it to the Dealership for a diagnostic check and they told me that this is a known problem with these cars I asked was there a recall on the part due to a failing with less miles, as such The mechanic told me I need to put in a complaint and maybe something will be done so I’m sitting with this car and I literally had to keep the windows down to stay cool

My Hyundai Elantra hybrid has had the horn and front radar go out 3 times. It will eventually start working again. Heavy rain or snow will disable the front radar and then it won’t go away for a while. When the front radar is out, I cannot use cruise control. It is disabled. I feel adaptive cruise control is much safer and cruise control in general. Apparently many people have similar issues. The horn not working often is also a huge concern. I am concerned I cannot rely on my car.

Sometimes when the cruise control is turned on the car starts the cruise setting at 110mph and then starts accelerating the vehicle to that speed. It does not allow the mph setting to be turned down using the controls on the steering wheel, the only way to take it out of the stuck 110 mph setting is by turning cruise control off or braking. This situation happens rarely but does occur with only the cruise control being turned on, without any further prompt.
