2022 HYUNDAI ELANTRA Complaints

Braking system failed to brake properly. It feels like even though the brakes were pressed all the way down, the car did not brake as it should. Also, the automatic collision avoidance system did not respond.

I own a 2022 Hyundai Elantra N Line. The HVAC system began malfunctioning when the center/forward-facing dashboard vents stopped producing airflow, while the side vents continued to work. Changing the HVAC mode does not properly redirect airflow to the center vents as intended. The vehicle was inspected and diagnosed, and I was informed that the ventilator lever/mode mechanism is broken or not functioning properly. This appears consistent with a known issue described in Hyundai Technical Service Bulletin 25-HA-001H/26-HA-001H concerning the ventilator lever and loss of airflow from the forward-facing center vents. This failure affects my ability to properly control where air is directed inside the vehicle, including directing airflow toward the windshield for defrosting/defogging. This could potentially reduce visibility in conditions where windshield defrosting is necessary and therefore create a safety concern. The problem has been confirmed through a vehicle diagnostic inspection. The vehicle/component is available for inspection upon request. I have also found other Hyundai Elantra owners reporting similar loss of center-vent airflow and HVAC mode-control problems. The issue occurred without a collision or other known event that would have caused the component to fail. The repair is also unusually labor-intensive because the failed ventilator lever is located behind the dashboard and requires extensive disassembly just to access the component. I was informed that the repair would require at least 14 hours of labor, resulting in an extremely high repair cost for what is essentially a small mechanical component. The amount of labor required to reach and replace the lever makes the repair disproportionately expensive. Additionally, I have encountered multiple other Hyundai Elantra owners reporting the same or very similar symptoms, including loss of airflow from the center/forward-facing vents while the side vents continue to function. Suggests occurring issues.

Transmission slippage, near failure, unable to accelerate safely past 20mph. Need to floor the gas peddle which causes me to go over the desired speed.

I own a 2022 Hyundai Elantra with only 72,000 miles my check engine light came on for the code p048900 for the Egr valve. It is no longer covered by any warranties but other year models have been recalled due to the same issue.

over the course of a year I get a "Transmission system error! Check Transmission oil Immediately" message. happened on April 15 2025, again June 20 2025 but car went into limp mode and did not go into 2nd and 4th gear. June 30 2025 went to dealership where ecu was reflashed.The problem went away but then came back on July 26 2025. Dealership could not see me during 2 weeks and by then message error cleared on its own. July 1 2026 message came on again and check engine light came on. Car again did not go into 2 and 4th gear and ended up stop moving. after leaving car off briefly and starting it back up and was drivable. Check engine light came on and I was able to plug in a reader and get code P0868. July second went to dealer and when car was driven into bay light went away. No scan was done to obtain code that was stored and dealer will not look at it. Escalated it to consumer affairs and they will not assist either. These are all symptoms from Recall 236 where the electric oil pump fails and puts my safety at risk.

Federal Safety Recall Fraud and Vehicle Endangerment Report Vehicle: 2022 Hyundai Elantra Blue Hybrid | Involved Dealerships: Earnhardt Hyundai North Scottsdale & Larry H. Miller Hyundai Peoria This complaint documents severe federal safety recall fraud and mechanical endangerment by authorized manufacturer franchise dealerships. In April 2025, Earnhardt Hyundai took physical possession of my vehicle for a federally mandated Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HCU) braking/cruise control safety recall. Staff verbally verified the recall was complete, but the physical invoice and subsequent written email admission from Service Drive Manager [XXX] confirmed the safety repair was completely omitted with "no excuse."To resolve this braking risk, on April 22, 2026, I brought the vehicle to Larry H. Miller Hyundai Peoria to have the uncompleted HCU safety recall corrected. Subsequently, on June 17, 2026, I returned to the Peoria facility for a warranty deck lid repair and a scheduled oil change.Upon releasing the vehicle on June 17, the Peoria service department actively jeopardized my hybrid engine integrity by installing an incorrect, out-of-spec oil fluid weight (5W30) and releasing the vehicle with a completely loose, unsealed engine oil cap. This gross negligence forced me into a dangerous 140-mile high-altitude mountain highway transit ([XXX] to Flagstaff) with a compromised engine bay, creating an immediate engine fire hazard and risk of sudden highway power failure. The loose cap and incorrect fluid were independently verified and caught on video by Milestone Auto Repair in Flagstaff.The manufacturer's franchise network is falsifying federally mandated safety recall records and releasing vehicles in life-threatening, non-compliant conditions. My car was hit from the rear by another vehicle while I was traveling with my [XXX] daughter. The impact was very strong, and one of the tires came off. Vehicle: 2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Safety Complaint: While driving on the highway, my 2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid displayed a warning message stating “Check Hybrid System. Stop Safely.” Immediately after the warning appeared, the vehicle lost power and acceleration. The car entered a reduced-power mode, making it difficult and unsafe to maintain traffic speed. The warning instructed me to stop the vehicle immediately. This occurred while I was traveling at highway speeds, creating a dangerous situation for myself, my passengers, and other drivers. The sudden loss of power could easily result in a rear-end collision or other serious accident because the vehicle is unable to accelerate normally and traffic may not have enough time to react. My vehicle currently has approximately 69,000 miles and is within Hyundai’s hybrid system warranty period. I believe this issue represents a significant safety risk and should be investigated, as other Hyundai Elantra Hybrid owners have reported similar failures. I am requesting that this issue be reviewed due to the potential danger it poses to drivers and the public. Mileage at failure: Approximately 69,000 miles.

Fuel injector randomly went out, I dont have the HPFP recall done on my car. Caused a massive amount of power loss while I was going down the road. Now hyundai wants to pretend like the HPFP had nothing to do with this. I keep being told its an emission part and isnt covered under powertrain warranty. Recall in question is Extension Z04 (TSB 25-FL-002H).
